You can, but you don't need to defeat the boss tower to get the egg incubator. Boss Pals in the open world reward Ancient Technology points as well which can be used to unlock the Egg Incubator.

My very first and only egg I’ve hatched gave me one of those purple deers. And I’ve never caught one before.

Step 1 : increase xp bonus on world settings .

You just put EXP Gain to 20 in world settings

Who has the egg incubator before it got changed to getting it with ancient points lol

Best advice I've gotten is to set all gains higher when setting up the world if you plan on playing solo.

So lets be real. Base building and pal catching in tandem will level you up super fast
