I think I'm watching this too late😂
ОтветитьThank you so much Ben. I had to watch this a couple of times, it's so helpful and educational. My anxieties calmed down about our garden bed design because I have a long narrow spot that has 12+ hours of sun in summer and 4+ hours in winter which is a dramatic shift for what to do between seasons to keep growing crops.
ОтветитьSooo! Helpful and Interesting. Thankyou! 😊👌
ОтветитьHi Ben your videos are absolutely my garden guide. I need a bit of your advice...offlate I have seen some sawdust kind of material at the base of my raised bed....I suspect it could be Termites. I have no clue what to do now.....my plants in that bed is thriving well and happy.. It's scaffolding planks I have used to make the raised beds.PLEASE HELP.
ОтветитьHi Ben I am keen to start growing veggies for the family am I too late to start this year
ОтветитьExcellent, i m from Indonesia 🇲🇨 mr
ОтветитьHi Ben. Your garden videos are hands down my go-to for garden planning and advice. I was trying to figure out what it is about your videos that make them so appealing. Very well edited and produced, but I think the thing for me particularly is; No annoying unrelated back ground music. Just a clear explanation of what to do. Big fan. Cheers.
ОтветитьHow about a garden on a bit of a slope? I have a nice sunny spot, but its a gentle slope. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I have a feeling the slope will add to drainage nicely, and we get a lot of moisture here.
ОтветитьMy strawberries left their raised bed and went wild in my mulch paths. 😂
Ответитьagain, awesome video. good ideas all over!
personal exp at planning:
> plans abundant due the ever changing situations/ crappy accidents along the way, such as unmovable plants (decade old berry bushes) blocking entire areas, bees building a damn nest under the highbeds, aggressive hornets or wasps being wasps, strong winds and invasive weeds.
> yes. oh the joys of gardening. I'll be looking forward to your other videos - good ideas there.
Ben... You did a video on spraying tomato plants. One day with baking soda, then a day off and then a day with hydrogen peroxide etc. I can't find that video. Can you post me a link to it? Thanks.
ОтветитьThank you! Just the right amount of information. Not too much. 😅 As a beginner Gardner, I get snowed under pretty quickly with all the tips and info.
ОтветитьGreat video!
ОтветитьHey Ben! Love your channel and I have learned a lot from you. Thank you! BTW, your glasses are really cool! Did you get them online?
ОтветитьYou've gotta be my favorite gardener now 👌💯 thanks for the time you take to help inform us.
ОтветитьHi, I am hoping to install raised beds using timber used for decking as this is the cheapest option for. The height will be 12cm. Is this height sufficient for growing tomatoes and pumpkins if the beds are installed on soil base? Thank you 😊
ОтветитьHey Ben, I'm getting a small 10x12 greenhouse/ garden house put in my yard near my gardening plot. I heard you state to put it in a protected area. It shouldn't be in the sun?? Do you mean to put it in amongst trees? I need to know because I have a beautiful Maple tree I was gonna cut down to place this Garden/green house but maybe I should leave it there...please help with your advice!!! S.O.S.
ОтветитьBen, thank you so much for including the sequence of plants to position (fussy, vining etc). Very excited to use these principles as I plan my new garden space. Thank you for your cheery disposition & for sharing your knowledge!
Ответить1st gardener here (we’ve had some patio herbs & peppers before)
My fiancé built us 6 raised planters- I’ve been planning all winter (and have gotten impatient and have grown in whiskey barrels)
Safe to say I’ve over planned, over planted, and now impatiently awaiting harvest.
Thx for your wholesome videos, can’t wait to see your garden this spring/summer!
I’m sure you’ve covered it but how much day to day maintenance does gardening tend to take? Clearly it would go up with bed numbers but I’m interested in getting started
ОтветитьLearning so much from you sir
ОтветитьThank you so much for your help 🪴🌿🌱
ОтветитьHow do you keep groundhogs and rabbits out of your garden?
ОтветитьSorry new to the channel. Loved the video. Is this based in New Jersey. I live in New Jersey and want to experience this home grown vegetables, I am completely new and blank to this process.
ОтветитьThe app looks fun and educational, but sad I can't used it
Ответитьthe BEST video out there for planning a veggie garden for beginners. great job!
ОтветитьQuick question for anyone in the comments, its my first year starting my garden after the purchase of my house, i have limited grass space but i have tons of gravel/stony areas, can you used raised beds on gravel or you would recommend pots for growing various veggies and herbs?
ОтветитьBen just saying a normal sentence: "so, in this video"
Me: "haha get it? SOW, in this video"
Very good video.
Thank you so much.
Excellent tips and tricks I do hope to have a more sucessful year this year Ill look at thr planner glad I don't hsve to input my bankimg info for the trial I hate companies that do that
Ответитьgetting ready ready to start again. The old place was so layered in organic stuff, I could grow rocks from a pebble. I miss the asparagus already. Thanks for the inspiring videos. BTW... I just had to log in again for the planner. Since 2015. Cheers and happy gardening.
ОтветитьIf I plant a raised bed over a septic system, am I in deep doo doo?
ОтветитьGood 🌱🌺🌱🌺🌸🌸🌸😎😎👌🏻👌🏻
ОтветитьHi Ben, could I ask where you got your bean arches from?
ОтветитьYou look like a british actor whos name i cant remeber nor find.
ОтветитьHi, Thank you for another inspirational video😊. I am planning my garden aswell, here in Finland, so i was wondering about green houses. Are they worthy to invest? What are the main porpoises of it? If you have time to share something about it would be happy to hear. Greetings from Helsinki ❄️
ОтветитьCan I do garden planner on my dmart phone?
ОтветитьAwesome information!
ОтветитьGood soil,👍👍
ОтветитьWhere do you sell you plants
ОтветитьQuick Question on the path material. Last year I laid down weed barrier and used mulch for my walkways. I live in New Mexico, at about 6k feet. After a few months and some rain, the mulch started growing mushrooms and my dog ended up eating some of them and was poisoned. He is still on medication trying to recover from the incident. Do you have any recommendations on how to kill the spores in the mulch other than using harsh chemicals? My wife wants me to rip out all the mulch this year and I am looking for alternative ideas. Thanks!
ОтветитьI am focusing my garden on kitchen staples such as tomatoes, potatoes, beans, peppers, pumpkins and other easily preserved vegetables and/or herbs that will lend themselves to canning or dehydrating. I'm also planning a few fun things that just look interesting, like bird house gourds and some seasonal treats such as melons and popcorn.
I watched the video on money saver crops. I have not had much success with any of the squash that you featured (except the pumpkins) as powdery mildew was a real problem. I do plan on having a small number of those this year, and experimenting with 'organic' vs 'enviro-nazi' methods of managing the problem, as well as trying some resistent hybrid cultivars (however, I prefer heirloom varieties so I can save the seed). LOL!
I will be testing a 'natural' milk based spray vs a copper sulfate approach and see which one is better. I have found that -- generally speaking -- so-called organic products end up being two or three times as expensive, and half as effective as the much maligned 'chemical' alternatives. (Never mind that EVERYTHING can be broken down into it's chemical parts, and there are some very 'natural', 'organic' things in nature that are quite toxic....but I digress.)
I love your channel and passion! And thank you for mentioning the pollinators! I am also a hobbyist bee keeper (I think the fancy term is apiarist). So many people blame chemicals for the demise of our bee populations (and that is partially true) but, even more so, it is a problem of habitat and available forage. Our bees are starving and have no place to live as land is cleared of 'weeds' and trees. So, plant those flowers or we humans may also starve! Without the pollinators there is no food!
This great, so much tips and hints -well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊
ОтветитьBorage is a wonderful bee attractor and it seeds it's self for the next year!!
ОтветитьThe program seems very interesting!!
What is the difference in the Annual Automatic and 1 YR Subscriptions?
This summer (Western Australia) is my first attempt at growing vegetables. I'm really happy with my prolific production of cucumbers and zucchinis, lettuce and snow peas (at $30/kg in the shops this summer I should have planted more snow peas!). The capsicum's are also now developing. I watched many of your videos and read through a vegetable growing book before starting my raised vegetable beds. What I would like to see is a video on how to plant out from store bought seedlings. I decided this might be easier and more successful than seeds for my first attempt and dutifully followed the instructions on the labels. While this has been largely successful, my failure is the carrots and brown onions. I appear to have clumps of onions and tangled up carrots despite planting each seedling (6-8 per pack) the required distance apart. I now believe instructions should have included something about thinning them? Or should I have separated each ''seedling'' into multiple individual plants? Is it too late to rescue any brown onions (they are now about 1-2cm each but in clumps of about 10 growing together) or is this just a lesson for a novice vegetable grower? At least our rabbits will enjoy the carrot greens! I'd include some photos for you to have a laugh if the comments section permitted it!
ОтветитьI have a phobia of caterpillars like panic attacks but I am determined to grow my own food I am excited but scared
ОтветитьYour description of the different vegetables growing personalities makes me chuckle 😂
