Everything i see from govan normally in some dingy little club is always next level shit that would put satch and vai to shame and whats most impressive is that hes just doin it improv and hes not active online at all what a purist, otherworldly

Guthrie is no Petrucci, Frusciante,or Navarro nor even close to Sartriani,Vai, Mike Stern or Eric Johnson but with about another decade of practice he could potentially wind up pretty good.

I'm in late middle age and a pro musician for almost 40 years and what saddens me is that back in the 80's you had amazing music of varying styles from Jazz to Rock to Pop to Blues to Blues Rock to Rock FM to Funk etc and all those guys were real artists, they were musicians, they could play instruments and sing for real and write songs but their biggest fault was a lack of unity Jazz guys would turn their noses at Rock guys and Rock guys would turn their noses at Metal guys and so on instead of acting as one and appreciating their corresponding colleague's musical contributions. But today it's diff, they all appreciate each other's diff styles, they've learned to learn and play as one as musicians but 25 years ago the industry took over and they only want some guy or gal who can't play, can't sing, can't write, can't create, they only need them to be young and sexy and they put them on stage with a mic and a backing track backstage to lip sync to while these great musicians today are now underground, most of them play in venues that don't even fit 500 people while these cRappers and no talent fakes like the Kanyes and Jay Zs of this world make fortunes off of peddling garbage.

America threw it's best against the UK and they stood in AWE of the European Master!

Guthrie is literally to guitar what Mozart was to piano. Such a freakish talent that people hundreds of years later will talk about him in awe.

I know this video is about Guthrie's solo. It's amazing, it really is. And to be able to do this on stage with these other legends listening to you and zone in instead of being intimidated is inspiring!

I also want to send a shout out to Mike's drumming underneath this all. I remember seeing all the flames videos about how Mangini doesn't support petrucci's solos as well as the other mike or whatever. But this video really demonstrated how well Mike listens to what's going on around him. He's just as in the moment as Guthrie! They are like quoting each other in spots it's pretty great to see
