I know this video was posted a few months ago but hopefully I can get some help. Looking at prebuilds and found 2 i like. For $150 more I can get a 4070 over a 3060Ti, am I overthinking this and should just get the 4070 build? It also has W11 Pro but 500GB less on SSD

Would you at all pair an i5-12400f with a 4070 for 1080p max settings @ 165hz? Or will it bottleneck alot?

If you’ve got a 3060 12GB there’s no point upgrading to the 4060. If you’ve got a 3070 there’s no point upgrading to the 4070. If however the 4060 Ti was instead the new 4060 and had 12GB VRAM then it would of been, also if the 4070 had 16GB VRAM it would have been. Nvidia have made some crazy decisions this last two generations.

Best truism I have found:
For GAMING only get AMD for every card up to 1000€.
Nvidia worth it only above 16GB vram cards (so 4080 and upward).


Note on the 4070ti:
Yes its not a bad card - but it lacks vram which means it will be obsolete once games get more demanding. If you have to switch raytracing off because youre lacking Vram then you might as well get an AMD card for better performance per dollar in pure raster.
It has 12GB and current demanding titles already use 12GB even without RT on.

A point that's frequently glossed over in your reviews is power consumption. I understand that a used 3070 or 6800xt is cheaper used but will also require an higher rated PSU. This should be factored in your explanation on cost savings because while the 4070 is underwhelming, 200W TGP is amazing and doesn't require a PSU upgrade if you have a 500/600 watt. While if you wanted to get a used 6800xt (300W TGP with spikes to 360W), it will require PSU upgrade. Love the reviews but I think some more context is needed.

Tbh I just needed a 3070 ti kind of performance with more vram, and lower power draw. Rtx 4070 fulfilled it all with quite a bonus in performance + Dlss3 👌😎.

Let’s be honest. If you own any 30 series you’re good for the next couple of years. To this day you can still Game all day with what y’all would consider a dinosaur “1660 Super” it’s still a good card and you can buy cheap. So if you already have a 30 series don’t listen to this Clown on the video. nobody really “needs” a 40 series. Unless you don’t have any GPU and you’re building a new PC , well why not. But a 4060ti or even a 4070 is the most that the Average “Gamer” should need. Anything higher is definitely a waste of money.

I'm not buying used cards. That's a whole can of worms just waiting to be opened, scams, no warranty, uncertain life expectancy, etc etc.

okay so,i'm on budget,and i want to build my lil brother a pc,before this he use an old gtx1650 laptop that could barely play games today,my budget is closer to 4060ti compared to 4070 because i want to buy a full setup,that is why i'm trying to make an allrounder good gaming pc with nice cooling,airflow case,and monitor

i'm planning to buy a 1080p 144hz monitor so he could enjoy most games at +60fps stable and playing competitive games in peace,i still considering whether should i use i5 13500 or ryzen 5 7600

or just use older ryzen 7 5700 in well the same price as 7600

sure that he will playing few modern games and very much likely to just enjoy competitive games

the question is should i go for ryzen 5 7600+rtx 4060ti or ryzen 5 7600+rtz 4070

Just got a deal of 515$ for 4070 and it's a pricepoint I am willing to pay for a 12GB card that can do 1444p with max and even 4k in some titles (especially with DLSS). Overall I'm very close to the pricepoint you suggested and couldn't be happier.

I think what you are missing here is 3080, right now on eBay the 3080 is about the same price as the new 4060Ti.

These are all GeForce cards which means you're getting ripped-off no matter which one you buy!

Note that if you generally use nVidia cards, you may have a lower wattage PSU than you would need for a top-tier AMD card. So you need to factor that in the cost of the upgrade as a 750W may not be enough for a 6950XT, for example.

That card is totally bandwidth and compute starved ! It runs at 50% higher clocks than 3060ti, but has the same performance ? They should have ported 3060ti die to 4nm at it would be much faster than this.

Sorry but all those videos never reflex world wide reality, those prices are completely out of place here in LATAM, where a RTX 3060ti is more expensive than a RTX 4060ti, where a RX 6600XT is more expensive than a 3070, in all cases I’ll go for RTX 4060ti. I hesitate a lot for a 3060 ti, if I find one ~240$ I might take it.

I aim for at most 4k 60 fps as I have a 60hz 4k monitor so no needs for more. Also based on the few benchs that I saw, it seems fine in 4k.

So what do you guys think ? Should I spend 240$ on a 3060 ti ?
Also I won't go team red as I'm a dev & some softs that I use don't do well with AMD.

in europe you can find for sale 4060 for more than 400euro, foundation edition was not for sale at all in my country .. that's so stupid, and expensive and not available(foundation edition)

If you're buying a $400 GPU you're probably NOT gonna buy the latest releases for $60+ a pop. Which is to say, older titles run great EVEN AT 4K on mid-tier GPU's. 3070 is not relegated to 1080P unless you get fomo'd into thinking otherwise.

I've been wanting a new card so I spent 800 CAD on a 4070 to upgrade from my 2060 super finally. I hope the upgrade is worth it because my 2060 super hasn't been that satisfying. 800 CAD is 600 USD. I'm hoping it will be a solid upgrade especially since I enjoy VR titles.

Wonder if you could get hold of an RTX 2080ti with a power target of at least 330W to compare to these cards side by side ;) I reckon it will beat all except the 4070 where it will lose by 20-25%

3060Ti is the best bang for the buck if you are looking at games that'll run ~60fps (and you won't be wanting FG until you're in the 90+ fps zone)... Guess it's a great value for 1080p or 1440p+DLSS+medium textures (so to not go over your VRAM limit)

It's RIDICULOUS that 16gb+ isn't standard for current gen hardware at $500+, and so I'll wait and get a ~5070 if nVidia ups the VRAM...
(I play older games at 5120x2160, 60hz display, with very high textures)

+33% won't make any difference when a game stars to become unplayable but it would add a competitive edge on PvP games...
So unless is a competitive game I see not much difference in performance other than the future proof added by having extra VRAM.
for a generation leap I'm happy seen this increase, if they manage to keep it up it would only take 3 generations to see performance double.
For future proof don't fill any card is worth of the title beside the 4090 and RX-XTXTXT even if one would play at 40fps vs 60fps on the 4090 both should offer smooth gameplay at anything.
Regarding extra cache on newer gen, it would be hard to test but even the muscle flash of a gun should present itself way faster than previous gen...
More of a visual glitch once this memory speed start to becomes necessary but looking toward the future they could push games to force the extra cache as a requirement.
4060Ti is indeed a failure in price/name, no one argue that...
