"A Great Challenge" - Glenn Close On Learning Farsi For Her Role In "Tehran"

Not gonna lie, that was hot af hearing her speak another language.

What an awesome person she is, what an inspiration! So fearless and still kicking ass in her 70s!

Glenn Close has never won an Oscar in her whole acting career, that is insane. She is one of the most respectful and talented actress in Hollywood. Instead, Meryl Streep, has nominated numerous times and won three Oscars. Something really F Up in Hollywood.

Well, it's "Parsi" language ,not Farsi. Just Arabs who don't have "P" letter in their alphabet pronounce it " Farsi " .
The persians speaks Parsi not Farsi.

This show features many iranian actors who fled the country after the revolution or who were able to immigrate, like the younger actors . Shaun Toub, a Jewish iranian is a good example and he now is American. I wonder how the fascist government of Iran views these actors? Have they canceled their citizenship? Is this show censored in Iran? I know Shoreh Ashgo, who played UN chief Avasalara in the expanse is another such actress as well who fled in the 70s. Sadly we tend to associate people with their governments (anti American sentiment in Mexico was sadly strong when trump was president for example, now it's much improved.)

Sadly it's the best way for Iranian culture and language to get out now. Hopefully when the regime goes it'll truly flourish

"Learning Farsi" is a stretch. The most she learned was a couple of sentences for this scene. And then practiced many times to the point where it sounded more authentic. And of course she has to learn to pronounce a couple of sounds such as "kh" or "gh" that we don't have in English.

Why would such a talented actress appear with such a low class host.

Its a shame she had to resort to doing israeli hasbara for money

As an Iranian , although you can certainly tell the accent is not Iranian but still she did a superb job. Speaking Farsi besides the accent , is all about certain facial expression and also other body mannerism that is very apparent in true Iranians , and as Iranians we just recognize other Iranians from a mile away lol

Just finished season 2 of Tehran. Incredible. Close was brilliant in it by the way.

In case anyone is wondering, she said "shomaa kheili baanamak hasti" which literally translates to "you are very with-salt" but in farsi, baanamak (literally: with salt) is something cute and funny and adorable. We have two words: baanamak (adj: with salt) and shoor (adj: salty like salty food).

She looks scary in tehran that i thought she would be a good actor in horror movies

As an Iranian, I am very sad. That someone learns our language to act in a film that is against Iranians and the Iranian nation. Unfortunately, they make a lot of misleading films about Iran, such as 300.

I love Persian language and Iranian people history culture nation everything is always fascinating. Im glad Israeli producers are not jealous like americans and try to mock this wonderful historic rich nation. 🇮🇷♥️

Stop demonizing Iran which they like to be called PERSIA. The more you learn about the people the more similarities you will find with them far more than in any other country. I have always seen the people and the core way of life is there to be strongly UK-US based with a dash of French. Just cuz you don't like the rulers you can't hate the oppressed. After all, Persia is the cradle of Civilization. And just so you know, the sanctions are killing children and ordinary decent folk back there. Literary killing them and leaving the target unhurt. Negative Karma of 80+ million on average, ordinary people are looming over those who have RE-pressed them with sanctions. Last I heard a week ago was that egg is now more expensive than chicken, you can imagine the rest. I wish the relationship would be open just like the good old days. They were and can be our greatest Ally. Why are we missing that?

I don't know much about this actress, she seems very talented, but I love both the Persian and the Jewish peoples, their rich cultures and wonderful histories! May the ancient fire of their friendship burn forever on, now and for all eternity! And please watch Tehran, both seasons, I strongly recommend this show! :)
