IMHO, The Adventures of Tintin is a solid animated adventure. The voice acting, animation and direction are all top notch. I enjoy this film very much. I am an avid admirer of animation, be it shorts, commercials, TV shows or films. My first taste of Tintin was in the early 1980's when I watched "Tintin and the Lake of Sharks (French title: Tintin et le lac aux requins)" on a French speaking Canadian TV station and although there were no subtitles for me to understand it, I actually enjoyed the film as again, I am an animation admirer. For many years, I worked to track that particular film down with English subtitles and I succeeded when I saw a DVD copy online for sale and I immediately bought it. I watched this film again after so many years and I still enjoyed it, but even more so due to the DVD having English subtitles as an option. I have also managed to add a few more Tintin DVDs to my collection, such as the animated double feature of Tintin and the Sun Temple (French title: Tintin et le Temple du Soliel) and Prisoners of the Sun (French title: Prisonniers Du Soleil), the Criterion Collection double feature live action films of Tintin and the Golden Fleece (French title: Tintin et le mystère de la toison d'or) and Tintin and the Blue Oranges (French title: Tintin et les Oranges bleues) and this one. I'm still fairly new to Tintin and I am willing to know more about him as I am planning one day to buy the DVD sets of "The Adventures of Tintin" (Universal set) and the DVD sets of the TV series of the same name. Regarding a sequel, it is still in development and make take a while, but when it comes, hopefully, it will be well worth the wait. I even review Tintin and the Lake of Sharks, the aforementioned animated double feature and also, this film on Amazon. I also subscribed and signed up for notifications so I can get notices on new videos. Please keep them coming.
ОтветитьSequel is supposed to come out in 2027
ОтветитьThat movie was a classic.
Ответить"It doesn't have enough character depth."
Haddock literally had a whole character arc, wtf are you talking about? 😭
TinTin is something special it’s totally different from those movies mentioned. The uncanny faces are not there the faces look amazing and cartoonish, the environment looks awesome definitely would like to see if Steven Spielberg would come back or make the sequel
ОтветитьIt had aged like the finest of wines.
ОтветитьSad that Peter Jackson was supposed to do the sequel and then Spielberg the 3rd one. Jackson couldn’t even get right on making a second film.
It was supposed to be a film series that apparently only Spielberg was serious about. If anything Robert Zemeckis should just do it.
I grew up watching this movie and absolutely loved it. Between the plot, the characters (my favorite one being the singer and her pink dress) and the animation this was one of my most watch childhood movies. I always loved imagining going on an adventure similar to the one Tintin went on. Oh what a time to be alive back then
ОтветитьI actually would like to combat the idea that Haddock should've been the one to chose between the map and saving his friends. Although I think it's an interesting change (and could have worked), choosing Tintin to be the one to make the decision ends up with him feeling defeated. On the deck chair later talking to Haddock, he says he feels like he's failed. Tintin shows almost no weakness in the original comics and this film, and this moment of choice makes him finally reflect and have this moment of doubt and weakness about himself after. Haddock is allowed to comfort him, which I believe acts as that moment of growth we've been looking for from Haddock - but also represents something else.
There's also the idea Tintin is a stand in for Herge's childhood dream self, a boy scout with no flaws who is unshakably determined, brave and kind - and Haddock (being written into the comics later) is a stand in for Herge's older self, a dry and cynical man who would rather drink himself to death than think his flaws. Haddock even says of his alcoholism in this film "Why do you think I drink, because I know I'll never be like him ( Sir Francis Haddock )." This moment allows a young Herge to feel upset and for an older Herge to pick him back up and push him forward (can also be applied to simply Tintin and Haddock having Haddock take action and responsibility.)
10 years later and i want ALL the books like this
ОтветитьI remember watching the film at the theatre with my brother, cousins and one of my uncles. I used to be a big fan of the tintin comics at the time, and I was in awe of what was seeing on screen. Later my brother gifted me a bluray copy of the film for my birthday. Fond memories! I was probably around 11 or 12 at the time.
I must say as a kid from India, I didnt know Spielbergs name at the time, but as predictable as it is..I was already a fan of his films right from Jurassic Park, Jaws, Indiana Jones,.. Later got to know it was one guy behind all of these and more..
It's have always been funny for me how Polar Express aged terribly, but Tintin didn't at all.
The visuals look very good to those days.
Me after finding out tintin 2 is coming 2027
ОтветитьVery fun movie, absolutely loved the feeling of adventure it gives you.
ОтветитьDespite a sequel-tease in the end which we never got, Tintin's movie is one of the few ones that actually does justice to the comics. It creates an orinigal (or at least adapted) storyline, with several famous scenes from the comics. There are also many references for fans to appreciate even more, such as newspapers about events and stories from Tintin's first adventures, and the unique artstyle that fuses Herge's unique style and realistic-looking people. Not to mention the casting choice of Andy Serkis as Haddock and Daniel Craig as Sakharine. The villians are well written, the animation and camerawork feel so immersive, and the trasitions are unique and fresh. Was a waste how the movie never got a sequel that likely would've also introduced Cuthbert Calculus, another great character in the Tintin universe
Ответитьi never seen it
ОтветитьMy son thought it was live action 😂
ОтветитьBro 12 years later and the animation for the movie is still dope asf
Ответитьits just me or tin tin character looks like tom holland?
ОтветитьI really loved watching this in 3D in theater. Don't remember anything of the film anymore but it was a kind of cinema experience you rarely get and wish I could again.
ОтветитьFinal Fantasy is a bit of an outlier because while it did use motion capture for overall movement facial and hand animations were done manually. Also the reason FF failed was not the look of the film, but the story. To put it simply FF The Spirits Within was not really a Final Fantasy story. That story would not have been engaging to mass audiences if it had been live action.
Tintin has not aged badly because the people who made it loved and respected the source material. So if you think the film has aged badly then you're basically saying the Tintin has aged badly.
It's crazy that there haven't been any followup to this movie, I thought it was brilliant.
Ответить...and now we have AI which does it ALL!!!
ОтветитьMe and my dad loved the movie.
We both want a sequal with the deaf Proffesor in it.
I hate motion capture, but I really, REALLY love this film. For me, it re-captured how I felt when watching Raiders of the Lost Ark on HBO when I was 12. Sure, they did TinTin in a new medium, but they captured the FEEL of the TinTin books, and had such reverence and respect for the material that I couldn't help but like it. The pacing is phenomenal!
ОтветитьMotion capture movies are underrated because u can create what ever world u want without the mix of real photo and cgi which manytimes create a weird image as a whole . Tintin is unique and beautiful we need more movies like this.
Ответитьits nuts how this is still the best looking cg animated movie, they nailed everything.
ОтветитьI think they could use the original Tintin artstyle, Herge literally invented a new artstyle with the Tintin comics (ligne Claire). The movie April and the extraordinary world (2015) is a perfect example of how ligne claire was perfectly utilized.
ОтветитьThank you! Always wondered why I never really clicked with this movie.
ОтветитьTo be honest it didnt really gave that emotional impact but yk its tintin drama is not their thing like you see it in the comics its more of an adventure thing its not meant to be emotional but in this movie I think it they did gave it some kind of emotion like dude it just doesn't feel like tintin if its too much drama they gave us that adventure fun packed movie with a tint of emotion and its perfect!
ОтветитьLove this movie. Watched it as a child and still watch it today. The animation is amazing, story is good but some changes could have been made, and everything else about it is good. No matter what people think, this movie is one of my favorites
ОтветитьThe best Tintin adaptation is the Breaking Free book.
ОтветитьYes
ОтветитьThey can make Karen Gillian look like a half robot Nebula, but cant make a man look like tin tin? So make it full life action or leave it cartoon. One should not experiment around with Hergés masterpiece tin tin.
ОтветитьAged well? What kind of expression is that? Today, most movies are just crap. If a movie is old, that is often a sign of quality!
ОтветитьTehn-tehn, pronounced correctly.
ОтветитьOmg I thought I imagined this or got Mandela-effected
Ответитьwatched this on the plane in 2023 and was captivated by the movie. Had no idea it was released 10 years ago! This was the film that got me into the Tintin tv series
ОтветитьAs far as underrated gems go, here we have our diamond
ОтветитьTintin still working is a testament to just how inhumanly talented Spielberg is.
ОтветитьThis is my favorite movie of all time. Its beatiful, stylelized, and fun
ОтветитьI was in the group that had no interest in the movie when it came out, mainly due to that I had no interactions with any of the Tintin media so I was completely lost to it. So later when I rented the movie on the dvd to watch with my siblings. We were all completely surprised by how good the movie is. I genuinely was interested in the movie that was able to catch my intention on a property that I had no clue about. I loved the characters, the animation, the bits of jokes that played throughout the film.
My favorite joke in that movie was when a two star hotel building gets dragged through the city and lands right near ports/bay area. The owner comes out of the building looks at his location and then puts another star on his sign to make it a three star hotel.
one day you'll get a cartoon that will be made like your idea...
i'll do it.
The comics are really the same. Fast going and just action after action and very random too. The film is even better than the cartoons
Ответить🤨
ОтветитьWhat I find to be interesting here is that, of course, Spielberg was vying to make Tintin look its best form that it could be on screen, but he decided to change things up from the original source material in order to carry across the action he felt was going for it. Arguably he would have been able to succeed without making significant alterations from the comics. Say, he could have just taken the opening section from 'Secret of the Unicorn', then adapted 'The Crab with the Golden Claws' as it was, which then could have brought us back to concluding the mystery of 'The Unicorn' merged with 'Red Rackham's Treasure' as a second-part, just as the original 'Red Rackham' comic followed directly after 'Secret of the Unicorn'. This way the dynamic between Tintin and Haddock that they were also trying to push here would have benefitted from more development time as well. Also Herge never explicitly stated Capt. Haddock was meant to be Scottish; it was purely a conclusion clearly made on the part of the film's directors. Regards, Samuel Farris.
ОтветитьI don't think it's the best story wise it's middle of the road spielberg but compared to zemeckis attempts at mocap movies this is art .
