Somebody probably already commented, but yes this was a real show in the 1970's and did feature Rodney Alcala rapist and serial killer. Much nicer to watch In Living Color!! I loved this show and watched most of the episodes back in the day; this was a funny skit... 🙂

Jim Carrey didn't get Hollywood weird, he got real, and stopped being a performing monkey. He's seen the shallowness of the entertainment industry, and decided not contribute to that. And I applaud him for that because it did bring him depression for years.

In living Color was the launching point for many actor/comedian careers, despite only having 3 seasons. Start with the whole Wayans family: Keenan, Kim, Daman, Marlon and Shawn. Add to that Jim Carrey, David Alan Grier, Tommy Davidson, Kelly Coffield Park, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Coles, Alex Wentworth, Steve Park, Chris Rock, and Rosie Parez.

As a sketch show there were lots of sketches better than this one. Jim Carrey's Vanilla Ice spoof. Kim Wayans' nosie neighbor Benita Butrell. Jim Carrey's Katate instructor. Damon Wayans' Anton Jackson (a play on "Action Jackson") where he's a homeless guy. Men on Film was a spoof of a movie review show (they reviewd other things too) where they portrayed stereotypical over the top gay men. Jim Carret's Fire Marshal Bill was a big favorite, Let me tell ya. My personal fave was Daman Wayans' Homey D. Clown - he don't play that, so watch out. I recommend you spend an hour and watch some more clips - some are great. If you're not laughing more than you did for this, something is wrong.

Jim Carey, Steve Martin, Robin Williams and the like have a humor that comes from a very dark place.
It is close to despair. It is a poor lever to maintain one's sanity, though it is how many people manage it.
I am empathetic to all of them. "Fractious, desperate and frantic" is never humorous it just seems so... sometimes. RIP Robin.

Sorry dear, you have to be more interesting than the clip you are showing. Constant interruptions without adding interesting commentary is just annoying. Seems as though you don't have a mix of friends of different ethnicities; you're just a bit bland for my taste.

In Living Color has way funnier sketches than that. A lot of people mentioned Homey the clown and fire Marshall bill, but I recommend reacting to Calhoun Tubbs. David Allen Grier's best work imo lol.

In Living Color was absolutely hilarious. Wanda and Homie the Clown were my favorites. How David Allen Greer was able to keep a straight face in the skits was amazing.

No, the show was not improvised. But if a skit started to go off the rails because of missed lines, malfunctioning props, or the actors just losing it they kept rolling.
Everyone involved was skilled enough to run with whatever they had. The producers and director understood whatever they got was probably as good as the original plan.

She is horrible, her voice is maddening. I've never heard of her. I loved In Living Color and hated her giving the reaction. She needs to educate herself if she's going to give opinions and reactions.

I worked with Jim Carey on the set of Ace Venture two. He improvised a lot. He's a very quiet guy. In a deleted scene Jim was dressed as President Abraham Lincoln with a bloody patch on the back his head. In this scene I was standing behind him and all of a sudden Jim turned around an grabbed my collar and yelled "don't ever ever stand behind me". Because Lincoln was shot from behind. It wasn't in our script but he improvised it. This scene didn't make the final cut unfortunately.

It is hard to believe that Jim Carrey tried for SNL when he got into the business. He wasn't hired by Lorne Michaels, creator of SNL. But Jim Carrey gotten really famous from movies, he got to host at SNL. You are right about Carrey, he got stale. He needs to be like his younger self more edgy!
