It’s funny how they had to take the ship and we commission it for this attack.
If it was Canada our ships are already analogue like this, and would already be ready for a fight

This movie was just great fun, good old entertainment start to finish, with a nod to all the veterans, both young and old. The only scene that spoilt it for me was the shell being carried from the aft magazine to the forward turret. For me that stretched it a little too far.

Thanks for this clip! This ship was part of my childhood when we lived in Bremerton. My stepdad would let me take the tour and hang out aboard her and while he worked on her or one of the other ships. Fond memories and my step dad's example are part of why I went into the Navy (and loved almost every minute of the challenge).

I thought that a boat in the Navy was a submarine

Had a contractor on our ship who served on the Missouri during Desert Storm. He had a 20+ Navy career and he talked about the Missouri as if it was a cathedral.

This scene single handedly saved this movie.

Every time I see this clip I keep thinking of the line from one of the Jurassic Park movies, "We need more teeth". This would be the equivalent to the T.Rex coming out of it's paddock to take on the monster at the end.

I had zero idea this movie was about humans vs aliens 😅...gee, where have I seen this theme before? 😅 Oh yeah! A lovely Roland Emmerich flick from the late 90s that's been a perpetual favorite of mine. So this is a naval battle, as opposed to aerial. If there are intergalactic arseholes about to do humans a dirty trick, well, I definitely say we should show em what we're made of, land sea or sky. 😁 And while I'm not an AC/DC fan by any stretch of imagination, "Thunderstruck" definitely works here.

It's like Independence Day. It's not a movie that supposed to make a ton of sense. Or be all that realistic (aside from the aliens). It's a movie that's just meant to stir up patriotic feelings. Both movies do that in spades!

It may be unrealistic as hell, but this is such a badass scene from an awesome fun-time movie.

Fun to watch but it would take from between 7 to 12 hours to raise steam in a water tube boiler. So that means they could not get underway for a minimum of 7 hours

I don't care how crappy the rest of the movie is, every Navy boy loves this scene. I'd sell my left nut to take a tour of duty on the Mighty Moe.
