I started watching but as soon as I saw Charles Allan Gilbert all I could think of was that he not only shared a middle name with Edgar Allan Poe but also looked just like him, so I missed most of the illusions.

Can somone explain the chess board one please? Most of these I understood what they were going for as soon as I saw it (with the exception of the rotating woman who I thought was going both ways) but I'm not sure what the point was with the chessboard. The bottom half (roughly) are moving left while the top half are moving right at different speeds when I look at it but I'm not sure if that's the trick or if I'm missing the trick?
EDIT
I'm also mucking up on the herman grid illusion. The white points are always white but I'm seeing a shifting shape in the black ones.
