Just snagged a 5700x for $115 today and selling my 5600 for $100 this week including install/bios update. It's just in a MediaPC in the bedroom paired with x570s/6700xt/32gb. Does great to run locked 60fps at 4k for controller type games. Quiet, low watts and smooth modern games at 4k. The 5600x also did just as well though. But that 5600x moved down and pushed out a 5600 in my kids build.

The 65W TDP of 5700X makes it simply amazing, runs cool and consumes as 5600 with more 2 extra cores for a little longevity. I think they earned my extra bucks for it.

As a 5600 owner who upgraded the 5700x. The 5700x worth price for 8 cores around $200. Even the 5600 is an amazing deal for $140

Nice video! I just picked up a 5700x for 249 euro at Amazon in The Netherlands. Might as wel stay on AM4 for the next 3 years with current AM5 motherboard- and ddr 5 prices. I actually landed on this video because I couldn't believe my temps (only 47c during stress test with Deepcool AK400 cpu cooler). Awesome!

i dont understand why the 5700x is at 3.85?

it runs up to 4.6 by default
and casn be overclocked to 4.7-4.8
its on reddit ..people achieve that
but you run at 3.8?

Have a 24/7 media pc that shares files as well on my LAN. B450 tomahawk, 32gb 3200mhz and a GTX1080 on. LG 4K 60hz 55”. Had various CPU’s in it from 1600AF,2700x,3600,3700x and just yesterday sold the 3700x for $160. Turned around and bought the 5600 for $163 shipped from Newegg. IPC upgrade basically. I have a bunch of AM4 systems and as I upgrade it pushes hardware around and then out. Figured I would rather have a 5600 over the 3700x if I could make it a no cost switch. Won’t gain much at 4K 60hz but maybe it will help pull that last bit from the GTX1080. It’s was only $3 out of pocket which works for me.

A year later update I returned the 5600 before opening it as I found a 5800x for $180 locally. $17 more to go from 5600 new to 5800x used. Still running strong in my other MediaPC in the living room. Cooled by a U9S with dual 92mm Noctuas, full power no eco mode.

5700X on par with 12600K,but way cooler and way better energy efficient. On top of all that is the lower price. So... what's the point of this Intel heavy payed video? Of course nobody mention about LGA 1700 cpu/socket wrong design that leads to 12 series overheat in heavy threaded tasks. Intel still has much work to do for beating AMD. Maybe 13 gen will compete, but i also have doubts.

I'm upgrading from my 3700x. I just bought a 5600x for £195 then found 5700x for just £235 so thinking of returning the 5600x for the 5700x. Love to hear peoples thoughts? Also would my Wraith Prism cooler from the 3700x work fine with the 5700x. Plan to re-use it if possible

But 5600 for $160 tray is quite tempting,i might wait for it to drop below $149 since i prefer SAM with rx6600 over buying 12100-12400f

Ahh, so Intel's NEW CPUs are indeed faster. Oh, let's not forget that it took 4 generations of Intel CPU releases to surpass AMD 5000 series. So, I would say if you can get a GREAT deal on any 5000 series chips then that's a $$$ win.

What needs to be mentioned in this review is the fact that a lot of B660 motherboards from $160 USD and below from Intel have crap VRMs/power limits and can't run anything higher than an intel i5. This was shown in the "hardware unboxed" review of B660's and really only the more expensive motherboards are worth it with Intel. This means the price difference is bigger than what is claimed here.

As an example, theGigabyte B550M DS3 can be bought for $90 dollars and that can run the 5950x with no issue. None of the cheap ($160 USD and below) B660 boards can run an i7 much less an i9. This means that if you decide to do a drop in upgrade with a CPU you're going to need to buy a new motherboard with Intel in 2 years, while a person can buy a 5600 now and then buy a 2nd hand 5950x in a few years for a cheaper price.

My 5700x is arriving tomorrow (already flashed my B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC to the latest BIOS), upgrading from the 3700x, which is still (for me) a well rounded CPU. What attracted me about the 5700x is the new architecture's performance at the same TDP of 65w, without having to invest and configure an AIO for something like the 5800x, which I have heard has "high temp" issues. Anyway, I appreciate this review...and no, I won't be changing my AMD system to have the INTEL performance of the 12600k or other INTEL cpu's current generations. As with any PC enthusiast reviews, it all comes down to individual budget and personal use-case for one's build.

For me it comes down to the 5700X's lower TDP. I'm wanting to upgrade from a 3600 on a low/mid tier B450 mobo which already always ran uncomfortably hot. I've wanted a 5800X but just didn't think my system and vrms could handle it. In my particular case (which I think many share) the 5700X is exactly what I've been looking for in a quick, relatively inexpensive, and safe upgrade.

SIGHHHH i'm on a x370 mobo and I am struggling to pick what cpu to upgrade too (i have a 3600x now) should i cheap out and just use my pc for a few more years (5600) or go balls out and get a 5900x (5950 way too much for me). seems like no one likes the 5700x :(

Great upgrade of 5600 from Ryzen 3 1200AF. Still think AMD should have priced it £150 for 5600 and £100 for 5500 for budget market share. I'll Keep on AM4 until ddr5 &pcie 5.0 6.0 gpu/ ssds mature.

i recently got a 5700x for the lower tdp and 8 cores for longevity and so far im pretty happy with it temps are excellent aswell.
clock temps are abit low tho i usually idle between 3.5gz-4.0gz and in gaming it stays up around 4.3gz-4.4gz otherwise im happy.
and i had a 5600x before this but i always wanted an 8 core purely for the longevity part of it

Thanks for your honest feedback and review Luke 😇👍. For upgrades, the 5700x is a great choice with a bios flash and drop in upgrade. I don’t hoe I feel about the “too little, too late” comment as the whole global situation delayed many tech releases and will high demand for pc / pc parts & laptops AMD did what every manufacturer does and pushed out as much high-end stuff as it can sell. Yes I feel now these CPUs you’ve shown aren’t as powerful as Intels 12600k offering, but for many users a drop in upgrade is a cheap performance boost and for those willing to just do a dirty quick o/c it’s free performance. so for many budget pc owners this more than enough to hold off a complete pc upgrade and allow a future GPU upgrade which can be utilised. Intel has definitely given AMD a reason to kick it up another gear and it’s great to see a bit of tit-for-tat going on to help drive innovation in the industry.

Surely most of the i5 performance is down to the DDR 5 memory, would have been better to compare with DDR4 on B550/B560 boards as more realistic and would still give you accurate CPU results, as this is what you are testing.

Ответить

With regard to Shadow of the Tomb Raider results the increased 1% lows of the Intel chip, at those fps figures, are irrelevant, as you would not be able to tell the difference between the two, no stutters etc. So effectively it's only the average fps that matters and as you say you would probably not notice the difference between the two chips, even though the win technically goes to AMD.

At first I wondered why you were reviewing CPUs that have been out for over a year. And then I realised that AMD never released the 5600. That seems like a major delay from them for what would have been a very popular CPU back then.
