Haha so your finally learning not to be a socialist ? 🤔 and that personal responsibility promites self determination, socialist policies promote learned helplessness
Ответить134. Same.
ОтветитьYeah, this is nice. For me, the genius hack is to to be honest with myself about what I know and what I don't know. There is, if I am honest, very little I can be really sure about. I mean there are some important things I can be sure about, but most everyday things in life, nope, not sure. And that absolutely includes what is possible and what is not. Trying to 'believe' that you can do something doesn't work. What works is to honestly examine your belief that you CANNOT do something. See if you know that to be true for sure. You probably don't.
Or another way of putting it is that luck plays an enormous role in anyone's life. Many good things in life require luck. But luck is not enough. You also have to be ready to take advantage when luck goes your way. If you're not ready, then that good luck will pass you by.
Great video, I agree with the message here; however there are things can’t be changed. even though he did mention about contemplating on which thing can be changed and which cannot, I feel like that part isn’t emphasized enough, anyway, love the content, love these down to earth and honest message. 😊
ОтветитьYes I càn ✅🙏
ОтветитьThanks a lot, It feels like I am in a similar situation.
ОтветитьAccept the things you cannot change
Have courage to change the things you can
Be wise enough to know the difference
I understand what you are saying ,but "im being in control " that is not my case , i dont know what you think about luck ,but i would say im the unluckiest person out there, everything i try to fo everything that can remotely make me happy never ever happen ,doesn’t matter how much i try and how much i close come to it , it will not happen , its like there are some code lines code to me and my personality. If he is happy, then destroy last thing, which makes him happy . If he even thinks that he will be happy, then destroy that or dont let it happen
ОтветитьThis video changed my life 7 years ago, I cannot thank you more to open my eyes and I never close them since then.
ОтветитьI remember seeing this when it aired.. now I see it again and I realise, you changed my life trajectory Ahahahah
ОтветитьSame thing with drivers. People will sit at a broken red light for 20 minutes if people don’t blow horns who knows how long they’d sit. A pba card at 18 taught me there are no rules of the road. Be safe and considerate, that’s it. I’ve applied that learned lesson to the rest of my life. On the flip side sometimes I endure discomfort and work through it just to prove to myself that I can . No labor job has ever been difficult since, I am aware others will quit because it’s too hard before I consider it. But as a general rule work smarter not harder.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьVeritassium is so deep and insightful, human struggle but willing to teach other to just help them.
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьIt seems like he directly spoke to me seeing exactly the circumstances I am in right now
ОтветитьThankyou so much!
ОтветитьHi, These kind of helps in getting to know so much more about ourself, I really like this one and "WHY BOREDOM IS GOOD FOR YOU" and "SUCCESS PARADOX" there are very different form of understanding very basic things which no one talks about, Can you please make more of these kind of videos. Thank you for the good content.
Ответитьthank you a lot.
This video is literally great and very helpful to think about
My experience in being trained to helplessness is that the authority figure, supervisor, teacher, or whomever, doesn’t like my solution. Typically met with “Should have done it this way”, or some similar recrimination. I once had a supervisor completely discard my work product and hand the project to a colleague with more explicit instructions that were never given to me. You get what you ask for, but it’s your responsibility to clearly ask for what you want. The unfortunate result is lots of silly questions to silly problems just to be sure the details are right.
ОтветитьI'm 21 and recently I landed from the role of the worker to the role of the manager. I have my company and it's so hard sometimes, realizing that now I am responsible for all these things and that I am in control of them.
ОтветитьIs anybody going to address the real elephant in the room? I mean, whale? Dufuk is that thing...?
ОтветитьBut I went to school. For engineering. They wanted experience. So I ended up going a different direction. Barely used my degree.
ОтветитьThose Catch-22 situations too. How do you break in when you have no experience? Or you have the degree, but no experience. -- The dripping water has worn down my defenses. Rarely a chance to get a reprieve. ; A different point relating to your end point. In Kendo, we can't scratch an itch while wearing the helmet. So we learn to ignore that and focus on the target on hand.
ОтветитьI was here
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьThanks sir.
ОтветитьEnd up that's not my job.
ОтветитьIsn’t it an oversimplification? Not contacting Bill Clinton? I can see a number of other reasons ( combined ) that can influence the outcome. Instead ,or in combination, with this.
ОтветитьFor real though, about the career thing, how do people with non-straightforward career goals achieve them?
ОтветитьPetition to name Unbibium: "Veritasium"
ОтветитьAlso important: sometimes there are things much better helped by others than changed by yourself and it might not be as bad as you think. I've spent 28 years thinking everyone tries as hard as me, only to find out I've had ADHD symptoms the whole time which could have had treatment and therapy to help with. I'm now in a much better place and it was definitely better to admit my struggles. The difficulty for me is that I have done so well for myself, I thought people would be offended if I said it was a struggle to manage things, but I didn't know there was a root cause to address.
ОтветитьGreat video! Thanks!
ОтветитьWow this video really opened my eyes! We are conditioned to learn helplessness, at work at school everywhere and it’s making us more and more stupid.
We should rely on ourselves instead of external factors to get what we want
OK, so this is me reaching out to you, even though I'm confident that it is most likely a futile effort. I have been needing someone to talk to, to discuss a few ideas and theories I have and you seem like someone who is open minded without being judgmental. I have the mind of a philosopher as well as a writer. My imagination has no limits. If this is something that would interest you, you can find me through my "about" page. You say that we should take a chance, this is me doing just that. Either way, thank you for reading.
ОтветитьYou need someone that can replace your parrents maybe. You need someone to guide you, the same as your parrents did.
ОтветитьThe ending may have changed my life. Thank you, Veritasium!
ОтветитьHi l totally agree to this video Jen true 100% '., love this channel
ОтветитьStill remains one of your greatest videos!
ОтветитьI am aware of learned helplessness, and that I could always choose to be more engaged, but the thought of having to place that much more effort is dissatisfying.
ОтветитьThat orca wasn't rendered and glitched out of the water
ОтветитьThe citizens of Russia need to see this video
ОтветитьThat was inspiring
ОтветитьLearned helplessness 😂😂😂😂
Two chic's from that university e-mailed Bill Clinton saying that they wanted to learn how to play saxophone.... and he agreed 😂😂😂😂

Leaving the joke aside, like many videos from this channel .... this is inspiring

ОтветитьSo your soul stand in the middle of infinity where it’s dark in the future and you look out as time is created there’s a space between you and what you consider your FACE IS created and then we go from there😇🥰😇
I am everything likes to work SIMPLE remember that
