With the numerous and outright disappointing problems in season 4 of The Boys, Black Noir being ruined in any way isn't something I'd hold very high.

Soldier Boy was awesome, the best thing about Season 3.
And 4 came out neither fish nor meat.
I watched the last episode. Well, the final is the only good thing that happened in the season.

seeing as how butcher gets as close as possible to his comic book self, they're probably going to make him as close to his comic book version as possible, I doubt Vought picked some clown like the Deep who would probably get killed by the Boys with no V or Temp V or Kimiko or whatever. He'll probably end up powerful and demented by the end of season 5.

He’s a twisted mirror of black panther. Boseman died and instead of letting black panther die with him, they just replaced him with a cheap super knock off in Shuri. I know it’s not exactly the same, but to me it seems like the rough mirroring was the intention.

It's interesting seeing so many people misinterpret the whole point and purpose of the commentary in The Boys.

This recent season wasn't even that bad, the right were review bombing it and moaning about how it's making their reality of politics look bad and the left simply can't take a joke when they see one.

Yes there some weak points like Frenchie's arc but it's the same show as season 3, 2 and 1. The politics are just heightened because we're all polarised and entrenched in our own biases and beliefs.

But he's not Black Noir tho, It's made pretty clear that no one in the Seven considers him Noir and Homelander just hates him.

The guy is simply wearing a costume to keep the Seven from loosing more members to the public eye yet he's always portrayed as a completely different character everytime he's on screen

Isnt the entire point of Black Noir 2 is to keep the facade of the Seven?

Like its pretty much the same for Translucent, they were pretending like he was on mission until they finally decided to say he was dead. They wanted to keep the appearance of an unstoppable and connected group to the public.

Noir should have joined the homelander fight at the end of season 3 and actually got a rematch with solider boy. The fight plays out like it did in the show except instead of Maeve tackling solider boy out the window it’s noir and unlike Maeve the explosion kills him.

Considering the new noirs “reaction” to murder in the finale, I had a joke theory that noir is actually the suit and turns whoever’s wearing it into noir every time. Like Anubis from Jojo. Obviously not what’s happening but I thought it was funny

I like the idea of the new noir, but he should have been afraid to kill anyone all season, could have been a good plot in the finale if he was forced to kill people on the list for fear of his life

Sam Riordan from Gen V would have been the better choice as Black Noir. Sure, he's shorter than the OG Black Noir by 4 inches, but he can follow orders properly since the Gen V season 1 finale, which is thanks to Cate Lupal.

Black Noir had an unexpected but somehow fitting end. I get why they recast Noir, the 7 keep dying, and black noir is one of the most competent supes with decades of service. It wouldn't make sense or do right for the marketing to write him off as a traitor or say he transferred or try to cover up his death.

I think its pretty clear the show is making the new noir into the old noir. With the Deep pushing his darker side I think it's pretty likely they go much further with this in season 5 maybe even giving him brain damage from Soldier Boy again or something to a similar effect. I mean the guy has similar aspirations of being an actor - might even be possible he is some kind of resurrection/clone Noir

I think they could've had the comic noir clone be the 2nd one. He would've been far more interesting than the one we got, and would've played a far better part in the plot. It would be predictable to most of the audience though, most people who watch the show know about that part of the comics.

@key3687
@key3687 - 20.07.2024 04:55

I get the points but I disagree because I feel that one of the most obvious points the show makes is that he's not the original noir and hes almost a normal person but that's what makes it interesting throughout the whole season especially with the one scene in episode 6 where he doesn't wanna be noir anymore because he's not like the original noir but deep convincing him to stay and see the benefits of staying and being in the seven is really interesting. We all miss and like the old noir but that doesn't mean theres nothing to like or find interesting about the new one and his mentality.

He is dead, the shame is not the recast (it is actually cool because they couldn't do that to any other main character), is that they killed him.

I had no issue with it, I think it's because I see him as a whole new character rather than a continuation of Black Noir. He's a fun character who's got great chemistry with the Deep, and I don't think his existence really impacts upon the legacy of the original Black Noir beyond showing the Vought is corrupt enough to replace him

they should have delved into the corporatism around why hes back and what motivation the black noir actor has to actually do this, does homelander actually want a black noir on the seven? was there a reason he couldnt say no to vought bringing him on? did he just not care. did he try to argue. there was a lot more that they could have gone into and done. like what if homelander had found out the reason the og black noir hated his dad and decided to give this new guy brain damage with the hope it would get the same result

Tbh I think the New Noir fits the change Vought is going through, Black Noir is the reign of Edgar Stan and Homelander killing him is the deathknell of an era. New Noir is a funny gag pale imitation of the disgustingly incompetent Homelander era.
