My aunt has a wicked die cast model of this bike. She got it when you she collected Pepsi memorabilia (everyone needs a hobby) it’s cool to learn of it’s significance.

The clips of Kevin sliding corner exits looking back are etched in my mind forever.
I have never seen another rider do this .
Amazing to see.

I had a 1986 RG500 in Black and Red, best handling bike around at the time I felt, brakes not to flash, but as the Italians say, this is made to go fast, not stop. Got in terrible trouble with the local Traffic Police on that thing, should never had sold it.

This video is quite painful to watch. I felt pretty sorry for that motorcycle.
Instead of repeating the same sentences again and again and again, it would have been nice to discuss power delivery.

With all the Rider Assist on Motorcycles Riders don't even know how to Blip (Rev. Match) the Bike without the computer doing it for them. Like this guy. . With ABS Brakes there is not much skill needed . Just SMASH THE BRAKES and the computer will adjust the brake pressure as needed.. It now takes LESS SKILL to ride a Motorcycle well vs. when Riders actually had to develop the Skill to ride one very well. Riders Back then were at a different level than riders of today. Put a rider today on a bike without any assist and watch him crash and burn on the first turn. Because he wouldn't know how to modulate the brakes to apply just enough pressure to slow the bike down without crashing. He never had to develop the skill and learn the feel of the brakes.Even as simple as accelerating at full throttle. Theres computer assist there also. Might as well put a dummy on the seat.

Poor Kevin was put in with Mick, Kevin was the master of late braking.. i don’t think i missed a single race with Kevin on a 500 GPbike.. the commentators used to call him “the lanky Texan”. 😂. Affectionally obviously…

A Bull Rider DOESNT have to
" control " the Bull like Kevin had to CONTROL this Bull of a machine around a course while making it do and go where he WANTED it to go.

Insane

I rode a street version of this bike and it is my FAVORITE bike I ever rode.

Light
Powerful and oh the SOUND of that engine with the Jolly Moto pipes on it.

I rebuilt the engine for a friend from work after it seized up.

Then got to ride it after new pisons and bored cylinders. Plus had dinner that his sister made for us.

Great memories....

Awesome bike from an awesome rider, Revin' Kevin was the bomb to watch. As a motorcross rider myself I love the rideability of the fourstrokes, made live a lot easier, especially when getting older. But there's nothing more beautifull than the simplicity and sound of twostroke engines. They are getting more rideable these days with efi and electronic powervalves.

Bikes like this are pure magic.

I'm thankful to be from the 80/90s era to watch these wild 2strokers in action. No traction control, no computer aids, just the bike & the rider's fine sensitivity & big balls!!!

Much better than the new techno crap bikes with all the electronic gimmicks. Aesthetics are the only thing that's improved on motorcycles over the years, everything else is just worse and more expensive.

Back then they didnt have that machine to turn on the engine, they pushed the bike. So you didn't need a professional...
1000cc 4strokes instead have much resistance and are much harder to be turned on by pushing
