In your VM video you explained that vm's are their own thing as well? So why put it here as a separating feature for docker?

I've been in and out learning docker over the net -- this is the first video that made sense to me. I mean I have a stupid hard time understanding containers -- I just thought that the container (in my case -- apache mysql php) are all inside this docker container and I can just -bring this container anywhere as long as my server is running docker. In this video, though, I still have to install some kind of os and then work/configure from there (just like a vm) - how do I 'carry/move/bring' this configured docker container to another machine?

Is it as command intensive with a windows based docker world? I understand what you did sort of. But as a novice and many years of using Windows, this seems like, "what was those commands again". Is there gui-based docker world to play with? I had trouble install VMware workstation under Linux. Thought that was challenging enough. And lacking on prepping on the VMware developer side for that to be smooth sailing

Hi Chuck, just viewed this video in August 2023. Some questions: 1. You mention “the cloud”. I have an account on a VPS. Is that what you are referring to as “the cloud”?
2. If you wanted to uninstall docker on Windows, is that difficult?
3. If software is loaded onto one Windows docker container and another instance of the same software is loaded onto a 2nd docker container, would those two instances of the same software have the same machine IDs or two different machine IDs?

One thing you said isn’t true anymore. With WSL, Docker integrates with WSL Linux image kernels on Windows so you can basically run an entire home server on your daily use desktop.

I don't understand one thing, maybe someone can help me understand better. Is Docker container help to download OS or OS and also apps? Like he pulled some OS like Ubuntu etc, and also wordpress. Pretty much Docker help us to pull anything even OS or app because they are light? What about helm Chart then? What helm Chart does?

SO eye-opening. Thank you. I've been struggling with having friends and co-workers talking about Docker, etc. but no real practical application for me. I've been playing around with CasaOS (which I'll be ditching shortly), but it runs docker behind the scenes. (Really to run HomeAssistant, incorrectly!) To learn more, came across your video, and it's exactly what I needed. I have hosted VMs, I understand VMs, but walking through your exercises is exactly what I need. I'll finish this, then hit the docker-compose video! Thanks, man. And you're fun to watch!
