They don’t break the legs of the cows / cattle it lets there legs fall through but they are unable to lift there legs up out of it

I learned this in my large animal class the grate by the outpost keeps cattle from walking over it because of the change in the landscape. They won't get hurt if they walk over it and there isn't any drop
