I'm sure you have homeowners Insurance, property taxes and healthcare insurance
ОтветитьI've never seen a home with single lung sink
ОтветитьWhat about a double lung sink
ОтветитьThat was great. Thank you for sharing! God bless!
ОтветитьY'all's cat is very grateful for all the fun stuff you built them XD
ОтветитьI'm not sure what I enjoyed more. Learning about the ingenious simplicity of what they've built and how they live in it? Or just the chill, pleasant, hardworking but appreciative personalities of this man and woman. They are comfortable in their own skins and comfortable in their relationship with one another and the world. They must be good workers in their jobs and good friends to those who know them.
Also, as in every other part of the world, the cats run the joint.
If he did all this sunpower station, he must add washing machine too! There is a well and power already. 🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьAwesome. Loved the vid
Ответить👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьVery impressive!❤
ОтветитьThat’s so awesome! Love the info and your cabin space. 😂build at the speed of cash! Yep👍that’s how we roll🥰
ОтветитьBlessings and Peace in Christ our Lord.
Ответитьbeautiful
ОтветитьEveryone burning wood for heat & cooking and using for building.. do you replant any good hardwood trees to replace what you're using?
Just curious, with the huge increase in people going "off grid" how many people are being conscientious about replace what you take from the earth?
Love the pantry kitchen storage & doors, You two have a wonderful home! Thank you for sharing.

ОтветитьTell us you have money without telling us you have money.
ОтветитьNice root cellar
ОтветитьThose guys should run an underground pipe from the green house, to the cabin, below the frost line, that green house could heat the cabin
ОтветитьLove it❤
ОтветитьPlanning to do that someday (maybe) but just wondering how to start that step by step. What are the proper things to do?
ОтветитьI believe i am off grid in suburban usa. I hunt and fish for subsistence along with a small garden. I have a significant solar array and i burn 4-6 cords if wood to heat. Oh and i gave a normal 9-5 job too. Bo electric bill, only fas i pay for is my truck.
PrIse God for his assistance and provision! Jesus!
Omg he's so sweet with "The lady of the house". So respectful. ❤
ОтветитьI thought this was the name of Brooke Whipple's channel? 😂
Ответить12 Volt except for some outlets using a lithium setup, so what does the solar do, exaclty? Keep those litiums charged?
ОтветитьMy tip for off grid, earn millions and buy some land! Lol can’t relate from the UK, i pay 1.5K month to live in the root cellar they own and pay two weeks wages on electric because I’m not allowed solar as a renter! 😂
ОтветитьVERY VERY nice this is almost perfect. enjoyed the video and really like how this cabin is set up.
ОтветитьI love the barn doors in your kitchen 👌🏻
ОтветитьHello Barb and Dan I love watching Homestead videos and I’m so glad I found you. I look forward to watching your journey. 🥰😘I’m from South jersey 👋🏻
ОтветитьBarb and Dan should start a channel!!❤
ОтветитьWow, such a rad place. Love it.
ОтветитьThat will work for some, but the amount of things hanging and piled on the shelves all over is really hard to digest. Its like one has started a major clean up and just left everything all over the place. The owners seem to be fine with that and its their home, but definitely not for everyone
ОтветитьBuild yourself and how long did it take
ОтветитьWhat runs water heater?
ОтветитьWow...what a great build and they thought of everything. Nice!
ОтветитьExcelent. Information thank you both very much. May our God continue to bless you
ОтветитьBeautiful video.. Thanks you son much for sharing with us. Love from AZ-US
ОтветитьDon't worry you will get something for you at some point
ОтветитьI don’t see tv. Do you have one
ОтветитьWhat???!!!! You built secret areas, painted your house red, and then showed the whole world,??? You don't have enough guns to protect it from starving marauders! 😮
ОтветитьThe porcupine lodge is too big for a cabin and to small for a house. If it is accessible all year it could be either. Dave and Brooke will have to decide before he starts. If he is going to make it a house it will cost a lot more and once he invests in the rehab he will have finish it that way or lose his investment. As a 4-season house he will need siding, electricity in the least solar friendly place in the US, with a propane backup generator, a condensing furnace with ductwork, propane bulk tank, pumped water that does not freeze in the winter, hot water heater, shower, plumbing, flush toilet, septic tank, and leach field, lots of insolation, thermal pane windows, and who knows what else. I do not know how he could get a return on his investment. I doubt there is nearby employment which means a retired couple would be the only one who could live there. The porcupine lodge was abandon for a reason (location, location, location). As a cabin unless it is summertime only it’s too big, he cannot heat it with a wood stove without a loft. I have never seen anyone lay channel iron on its side, it reduces the beams strength by 75%. I would like to see them turn it into a home and wish him the best of luck. Radiant hot water heat would be easier to install as their does not appear to be a good place for ductwork. It will be difficult if not impossible to get insurance or a mortgage on the Porcupine lodge. A lease, land contract or cash will be the only way unless Dave and Brooke want to live their themselves. Insurance companies are now canceling policies of houses with solar. Michigan has less solar charging hours than any other state and even less in the upper part of the lower peninsula. Compared to the grid In Michigan Dave and Brooke would never recover the cost of a solar system, however it is better than nothing and more cost effective then a generator in a 4-season house. Not so in a rarely used cabin. In any case those incandescent light bulbs are poison to him, and he should get rid of them immediately. As a part time cabin a D.C. system is the way to go. Invertors, boost or buck convers, rectifiers, and voltage regulators are inefficient and wasteful. Along with their cost the best of them is maybe 90% efficient and that is only when used at or near their max rated power. As the percentage of max power falls off so does their efficiency, not to mention their no-load power consumption. 12 or 24 volt D.C. with Harbor Freight solar panels has none of those problems. He could use 12 or 24 volt D.C. LED lightbulbs and the existing wiring for lighting. Everyone I know who has a cabin in Michigan fears theft, vandalism, and dumping. Their defense is usually to leave nothing of value to steal.
ОтветитьWOW! Great information… I appreciate your video share. You have answered many questions that I was wondering about.
ОтветитьVery nice thanks for the toure👍
ОтветитьAwesome video. I love this simple lifestyle. Thank for sharing.
ОтветитьI dream of this lifestyle! One day, I'll meet my soulmate, and be better able to make it come true. lol
ОтветитьThat is exactly what I'm looking for. That is so nice.
ОтветитьSuper inspiring! Thank You Dan and Barb for showing us your off-grid cabin! Great work you guys!
ОтветитьIf this is the cabin yall bought and demoed in earlier video this is awesome! Great job ! Very well planned out ❤
ОтветитьVery well done, very sufficient.
