The Broken Role That Everyone Hates: Riot Reworking Jungle AGAIN? Preseason 2023 League of Legends

we need league classic where we just go back to season 1

What I don't like about the jungle is how it always has these additional add-on mini-games attached to the role that keep changing all the time that the jungle is balanced around. I've simply lost track they've reworked and replaced the forced "jungle gimmick" of the season.
If the want the jungle role to be easier to pick up, then don't make player have to learn a whole additional sub-system of "gimmick of the week", which will end up being removed and completely changed by the next season.
I just look at these new pets and sigh and ask "why bother?", and then I play Mid or ADC instead.

The least fun role

I like to imagine that the "not a wolf" line was written by one of the Riot's underpaid employees after he initially wrote "wolf pet" as a placeholder for the pet's name. But then they told him in an email that "It's not a wolf", but didn't bother to correct him. So the writer just wrote: "Not a wolf" as a "fuck you" to Riot. Lol

nobody wants to jungle because it changes EVERY FUCKING SINGLE TIME

Honestly, great video and all, but it kinda just made me feel like I suck ass at jungle and should stop trying to play it. I have a lot of fun with jungle as a casual, low-rank player, but seeing just how much faster my first clear is supposed to be makes me feel a little shitty. I honestly don't have much of a hard time with toxicity, I experience it occasionally but usually I can cast it off because it's just ignorant (maybe this is part of me being bad, but no, I don't feel comfortable ganking your lane when you've already died two or three times before the 4-minute mark. Flame me all you want but there's no point in giving your opponent another free kill on top of the ones you've already given him. And yeah, it sucks that the enemy jungler ganked you, but I don't know what to do when you're greedy, over-extended, haven't placed a ward all game, and I'm on the other side of the map ganking a lane that has a chance.) It's like that lifeguard analogy; I can't help you if you're hellbent on drowning us both. I swear, sometimes it feels like my teammates forget that the enemy jungler exists and think that we're just in a 5v4 game or something. But I don't know, maybe I'm the idiot and I'm just that bad at jungling.

As an ex jungle main the problem was not the jungle itself it was the laners. I could be miles ahead of the enemy jungle be pushing objectives ganking as much as I can and if we lost its an"jungle diff". Want people to play the role? educate the community to realise its not the job of the jungler to win your lane for you...

As a jungle main i cant express how boring most junglers are and unfun to play.
Jarvan olaf sej belveth amumu udyr karthus rammus etc super boring and one dimensional. Literally this role is unpopular because the characters are boring. Give us more lee sins kindreds nidalees ekkos and elises plz riot

jungle is my favourite role, since everyone thinks they lose their 1v1 and 2v2 lanes because of the jungle

As a Gold 4 Jungle Main (this season) I felt like I learned some things about the jungle from this lol

Just my perspective, but maybe they removed double camping so that the junglers that did it extremely well wouldn’t just take over the game? Idk still seems like a weird change but i can honestly see it being a nerf to some junglers that could possibly be oppressive

So in retrospect since it's been a few months now, I can safely say as a low elo player, and I detest jungle, it is infinitely more playable to people like me now. I never liked doing double camps, it felt impossible to learn and deterred me from playing it at all, so I'm glad that was removed. I also feel like the pet is just super noob friendly.

They made single target clearer's better.

So we are just gonna ignore that no one clears the jungle? It is terrible to clear the jungle. Just get lvl3 spam gank clear crab get lvl4 spam gank for the rest of the game. Doensnt matter if you go down levels you get to remove one or more lanes from the game and you get Comeback exp. The reason no one plays jungle is because it has the absolute highest impact on the game and is universally hated by all other players, since the only thing that counters a jungler is a jungler. Jungle removes so much gameplay from all lanes it’s insane

Watched this a couple of times and when clearing multiple target camps as Warwick one should bring a low armor target down to half health and switch autos between that and the big minion. For wolves q the main, for raptors q an undamaged mini to bring that to half, so you can continue bringing the main down to half, krugs are still dumb

Everyone knows this pet thing isn't gonna last. It will be changed.

I can't believe you forgot the incentivizing +5gold you get for being the first ping/aa/acknowledgement of a fresh ward.

As a complete noob who enjoyed jungle and support this does make me want to go back and try league again.

Wonder how the nerf to multi-camp clearing will effect or has effected(haven't been on in a while not sure if this change is live yet) a character like Shaco who's dependent on clearing like say red and raptors at the same time to stay competitive.

Lmao the new pings literally add literally absolutely nothing to the game. Maybe cos I’m GM but like everyone knows what’s what. Unless they add like: “stacking, gankable” “prio, contest” etc

Pets is such a phone game gimmick that SCREAMS microtransactions. I think we can see a lot of upcoming pet skins in the future.

There should be AI training for jg that truly explaines it not just farm and gank

If they make pet damage predictable and nerf Avatar Smite damage then it will be good. Avatar Smite is good enough with the special effects, why need the extra damage? At least nerf it down to 1000. That would be better.

I miss season 5 jungle, back when we had different buffs for different champs, like a stun on golems and a retaliation on gromp.

I don't have an issue with the jungle pathing suggestions personally. If it means new people can hop straight into a game without needing to look up a guide or have someone explain it all to them, it's fine by me. They'll eventually look up guides to improve their jungling anyway, and those guides will suggest clears that are better in other situations. People already learned bad habbits from looking up effective clears. This just takes out the middle man.

I dont see any problem. "Pathing is hard and adaptation is the key" Yes, what this has to do with anything changed? You think low level players will adapt? They will just failed at pathing, be under level and quit jungle. But teaching a efficient pathing will make the player be able to play, he will adapt in the future when he become a high elo player, tutorial doesnt change the need of learning advanced strats.

You point doesnt make any sense. These changes, we are talking about newbies, no one is talking about high elo, nor even gold elo. You think people playing jungle for the first time will adapt to gank someone? They dont have this notion, they are learning, without pathing tutorial the newbie will just be under level and will quit jungle forever. You need a base to improve, you cant teach someone how to race without teaching it how to drive.

Warwick and the range are right too. I think its easy to understand. WW doesnt have AoE, so he will have a slower pathing, but if the enemy can clear two camps at once, then WW is double behind, he is already behind because he is slow, he will be more behind if he cant clear two camps.

Clearing is not a skill. It's a way how ppl used bugs of the game. There is nothing to be proud of. Skill should be shown on ganks, duels, fighting for objectives. Not for grinding camps

The problem with jungling is that Riot destroyed their game over the seasons. Nowadays some matchups for especially top lane (the in fact least played role) are borderline unplayable and some lane states can be abused so hard, that only the jungler can fix the lane. And its the job of the jungler to do so. If he fails to fulfil this simple basic task he alone is the reason top lost the lane and is probably down 2-3 levels. And thats not even counting the enemy jungler interfering.
I guess you all have played games before were you are ganked 10 times more than you got help, and meanwhile your jungler doesnt impact the other lanes at all. Its just infuriating

their intention was not to "dumb it down" while also dumbing it down! every patch i feel they make a too drastic change and forces players to either change playstyle or even change the champs they play. its like they want more people to jungle, while simultaneously wanting the current junglers to quit jungle by changing it!

I jungled for the first time today, and the ui updates were huge helps, of course ganking is something you look for opportunity/matchups for. Overall huge ups for the UI I do think kiting shouldn’t have been changed. The pets are weird, but having general flow like to get started juggling, was nice, and I wanna continue trying it.

Im a jg main, and riot f-d up, they messed up leashing and made it much easier for everyone playing jungle.

I don't like the jungle rework and the new stuff i can't even compare the skill level between a pro jungler and a new jungler now this is what riot wants bravo bravo also why nerfing midlane ?? Nobody asked u to do it

Yeah, I hate the shorter leash range, and I’m a WW main. I used to double clear on WW all the time w/ hydra. Double clearing was skill expression. It’s gone. Makes me sad. I DO like, however, that Tiamat isn’t a “required” buy thanks to jg pets.
