How important is getting an FX 2 with disc brakes vs one with rim brakes? I plan on using it to commute and ride for fun (about 20-60 miles). My previous bike had rim brakes which never gave me any issues, but it seems disc brakes are superior and becoming the norm.

Great info! thanks for weighing the bike too. I just got a used one, in middle of cleaning, degreasing, lubing, now to sand out all the notches and scrapes, former owner was a delivery guy that scratched the crap out of it with a chain, then duct taped the hell out of it. BTW, Ive got a great remedy for removing duct tape glue. Spray with "Goo-Gone Gel", then with a heat gun heat it up then rubs right off with a terry cloth rag. Amazing!
QUESTION: what kind of tires do I need? (old ones bad) tubeless? or with inner tube? Want to keep as close as to original. City riding.

My wife has a 2017 FX2. It’s not something I’d take on loose gravel and the old V brakes are not nearly as good as hydraulic disc brakes. Did they change the rim/tires for 2019 making more akin to a dual sport? If so one of our kids may be inheriting moms potentially “old” bike.

I have a 2016 FX7.2. It's been a great bike. I like what Trek is doing with the FX lineup. Bikes are becoming even more affordable every year. Now I just have to talk myself out of a mountain bike...

Weld on the joints are very rough. Too much joints on the frame.

I was shown this bike by a bike shop owner. I did like it but I like my Diamondback haanjo metro better. It's lighter n a one a 1×9 drivtrain. My buddy with a 3 thousand dollars road bike couldn't believe how comfortable my bike was n how nice it shifted gears. Trek is a great company but there's other good brands at better prices.

There's allot of bikes at that price point that come with a alloy fork and bars. I think at this time its pretty common.

All bikes should have internal cables. Is it too much expensive to make them that way???? I hate the look of a bike with external cables.

I've had this exact model for the past two years, and as a commuter/fitness bike, it is fantastic. Obviously, a bit slower than a road bike meaning riding 20 miles for a fitness routine made it quite a long ride, but it's a great bike for anyone getting into the sport or just looking for something that can do pretty much anything around town. Love it.

I bought this one from Amazon. It is far out of the bike. My left foot hit the stand when I ride FX2.
