I don't see how "chromium monopoly" is a bad thing at all, it's open source, if google does some bad things, you can just fork it

Throttling people who are "proven" to be false is censorship, especially when considering the bias of those who are doing the fact finding. You are clearly misinformed about what is occurring in the world of censorship.

The CEO of Firefox has openly stated that he is in support of censorship of the internet. Everyone should delete Firefox. Anyone supporting a Linux distro should be responsible and replace Firefox.

That's a good evaluation. I've used firefox for quite some time because of the open source ethos, but now I just have chrome for compatibility and speed, and brave for it's native IPFS integration and ENS solver for web3 development :)

If your so worried about privacy then don't have the internet, even your internet service provider collects data from you even vpn services as well. I don't get why people are so concern about privacy when you connect to the internet on your phone or pc or tablet there's always some sort of data collection. I use Firefox and have no issues at all. I just wanted to know about other browsers and this video doesn't help.

I’ve been using Firefox almost since 2008 (included in Linux mint) and I have no plan to change that. I use chrome just for the stupid web pages at my work but inside a vm.

my issues with Firefox:
- it is not playing videos from some websites (neither Chromium nor Edge) - I found Chrome and Brave can play.
- I also miss the PWA.

I am still staying with Firefox and use chrome or brave for occasionally pasting URLs into it for the webpages not loading correctly.

Firefox for Linux does an excellent job of switching the sampling frequency of an external DAC to match the source frequency. But Chrome can't do that.

Because firefox is mostly used by power users, its extensions are usually better. For example DarkReader gives you extra customization on Firefox.

Your "hot take" about Mozilla's deplatforming is severely misguided, in the sense that they didn't disavow deplatforming in any way. They acknowledged the need for it, and also how it needs to be complemented with it other measures against "misinformation" (ideas and messages against that counter the establishment).

This is severely draconian, and it's minblowing how anyone in the Linux sphere would pass this off as good or neutral.

What about the, TOR Browser? You didn't mention that one. So this was an incomplete review.

And personally I find, Firefox to be the most consistent. And to offer the best extensions. That integrate well.

I have also used the TOR Browser though it is not my, main first pick browser. But it does get you elsewhere. We are censored from by others. And of course there is an additional risk. For those of us who are risk takers. Who like to push, the envelope, regularly. And I think that is a mostly VPN-based browser? That makes you harder to find. And protects you. From prying eyes into your, child pornography. That no one actually needs. Who's not a pedophile. But I digress with those regressions.

And so this review. I give a 5 out of 6, to. Because you didn't review the TOR Browser. And it works.

I don't get your concern with Brave tbh? Too many settings? It's really not that many and wouldn't even really find that as a complaint. You can also download any chrome extension to change the look fully of the browser and finally the extra features, brave rewards, wallet and vpn all work really good and if you don't want em just turn then off I'm the settings. Brave rewards is nice bc I have it set up on all my devices and I've gotten roughly 10usd in crypto in 3 months of use. Not gonna switch off Brave unless they make a serious privacy fuckup.

I was a heavy FF user around 2004 - 2009. I then "tried" Chrome and was blown away. A couple of years later I wanted to try Firefox again but they had diverged in some UX/UI areas and I had already become used to the Chrome experience, so I never went back. Earlier this year I switched to Brave because I am trying to "degoogle". Brave isn't safe from Google since Google is the main contributor to the Chromium base, so I might eventually have to jump that ship too. But until that day arrives, I'll stick with Brave (unless there are unforeseen problems in the near future)

I used Firefox for a long time but I had a lot of memory leaking and slow down with it. I recently switched to Brave and haven't had any issues with it so far. I have no interest in the crypto stuff but it was easy to disable.

Vivaldi is very customizable - you can adjust so many things, that you don't have 'overkill' - you can have very simplistic and web browser with a lot of adjusting under the hood when needed. You as Linux person should totally understand the power of adjusting almost anything and dive deeper into this web browser
