I could have killed the rat mother early but tried to get the stupid outgrowths. Before I knew it I was totally overrun and only got out of there by the skin of my teeth with a party of plague-ridden.

For my squads taking out the outgrowth, I generally try to outrun the spawning rats instead of killing them. Bear is great for this task since it can double its own movement and take out growths quickly. The other squad uses a horse to give everyone around it double movement. Archers are generally lower movement units in my party and their burst damage isn't high enough to both destroy a growth in a single turn and outrun the pack.

Your archer knockback shot does more damage than basic bow attack (which is also knockback). This is important only if min-maxing, since you have 100% crit every 3rd shot. Better to use red knockdown ability for increased crit dmg. :)
You can equip your swordsman with a 2h sword for cleaving rats. I did this with 3 cleavers (axe, mace, sword, all 2h), 2 archers, 2 rogues. Basically same strat as you, archers taking down growths, rogues supporting them, while 3 cleavers took care of all the rats at spawner

Aren't the infestations limited? Do they respawn?

Fire bombs are also useful for burning chaos as well as the pryo bows are useful as well.

you should wait until your level 5 that's when the archer gets the barrage attack - archers and rangers should be valorous victory your archer should get you several temp valor points per turn. teach as many people heal as possible. your rangers/ mine move 18 to 20 are strategist's with the dagger throw at level 5 with a torch they can take out an out growth in a turn and leave as the poison pool( sometimes doesn't disappear until the start of the next round). they leave and are immediately healed by the partner.

attack during the morning the rats become feral when the sun goes down.

burning outgrowths will take damage at the end or beginning (not sure which) of every round so even if the growth is down to a few points you can just let it burn.

Don't bring animals with you they increase the amount of rat's and will get plagued, bad if your fattening up some boars.

A larger party near the brood mother will draw more spawn. leaving you 2 man crews with less to deal with.

I just wanna know of you find better Recoil shot or Barrage for archer, i mean overall not only for rat infestation quest. Ive seen more ppl using Barrage than Recoil shot, but i trust more on you😅

Does rat infestations respawns after completing them?

A good way is to use 2h weapons in all characters that can wield them and put them close to each other so all rats respawn close. That way you can kill them with AOE and not chase them around.

Send 1 archer and thief with 14 movement is ideal to go around and kill the tower. Thief with torch and the skill of poison bomb that way you doing 25% dmg power turn and move to the next tower. 5% from poison and 20%from fire and your archer can heal the thief from poison and kill any rats that respawn close to them or help do a lil dmg to tower.

I farm 299 rats you can stay and kill way more but i got bored. Had 2 archers(one with sniper shot and the other with the 3 shots to stay with the big group killing rats) 3 2hs characters and 2 thief with torch.

Doesn't seem like you actually made any money from this. You spent more on plague cures than you got for a reward.
