To me Gen 5 always stood out the most and it always caught my attention more than any generation because it’s what made me curious about Pokémon again. I remember being a kid and looking in gaming magazines and being super interested in Black and White.

The fact that tornadous and thunderous arent in the second games sucks so much. You only got one depending on which version you chose and you needed both to get landerous. They had a lot of potential for new content

B2W2 isn't linear at all lmao?

I liked Black and white because it was full of story and content, something you don’t get between gens 6 and 9, everything since then has progressively sucked!!!!!!! Game Freak don’t try at all anymore, and they put no care or heart and soul into the games anymore. They just release crap!!!!!! They release crappy cardboard cutouts, of pathetic excuses for Pokemon games, and they get away with it, just because of the brand name. They are now basically just releasing crap with the Pokémon brand on if. They don’t make good quality games anymore. Pokémon is a shell of its former self. The black and white series was the best thing going for them, since games like Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, HGSS. And then post gen 6, everything just went downhill. I think it was because of all of the criticism, or Game Freak just stopped caring, or they lost a lot of quality game creators. But either way, they put 0 effort into their games nowadays. They just put no effort in at all anymore. Games are not polished at all. Look at how much content Nintendo put into Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as opposed to Scarlet and Violet, which is glitchy and barren as hell.

I just hope b/w remake isn't a downgrade

I actually had to give Black and white a chance I didn't like the anime but the games were fun really made me have a different perspective of this gen

This is the game that got me back into pokemon, stopped playing after emerald because i just began losing interest and played other games, my friend introduced me to B2W2 in highschool and fell in love again, sadly the games after didnt live up to the same standard

And now we get unfinished games like legends arcues and scarlet/violet smh

Gen 7 is the closest pokemon game in the main series line that comes close for me as being the best

I started with black 2. (I got into the franchise late) and ive felt disappointed since.

To this day I still don't understand why this gen got so much slack by older fans, creativity in Pokemon's designs were always random.

i've played black 2 twice and white 2 once. basically three times. it was just that good. it even gave me an early growlithe then arcanine and a riolu which evolved into lucario who was and still my favorite pokemon. post game was god tier and it's the biggest selling point for these 2 games. my most memorable experience from it was hunting a dragonite and a bagon with their hidden ability in one of the hidden grottos. catching them or even just finding them was already so fullfilling after hours and hours of walking and entering the grottos hoping for that dragonite and bagon to spawn.

black 2 and white 2 were way ahead of their time. i can only imagine if they got released in the switch or even the 3ds. what a time could've been for pokemon.

When this was release I was in highschool and I told everyone that Gen 5 was amazing. And it beat every other Gen. Gen 5 is so damn goood’

am not a veteran but as a long time player of pokemon from early 2000's

what makes me love gen 5 aside the sprites and animation was the fact that there's no old gen pokemon from the get go and just a completely new batch of mons for that generation.

this made me experiment and threw me completely out to not rely on "go to pokemons for each type" on your pokemon team.

it's really a breath of fresh air and puts you on a level of excitement at that point which was improved by the sequel

I’m my opinion the trajectory of pokemon was absolutely at an uprise and it hit a phenomenal peak with gen 5 but after 5 it just died honestly. My entire Pokémon community fell apart and we still talk and play time to time but it’s always emerald or black/ white either 1 or 2

Hoenstly the gen 5 was just terrible(the anime)but ironically the games were all amazing , the last time I really felt I was playing pokemon game

my issues with it: rival sucks, i spent F***ing 3 hours trying to figure out how to get to the 6th gym from driftveil, (A little slow) and i dont like any starters. Pros: Everything else:D

Literally paid $200 today for a copy of black and white. Man, I regret not buying these as a kid. I was one of the people, who hated this gen due to the designs. Now, I’m 24 and appreciate it, but its too late lol

I love Pokemon Black and White and BW 1&2, I disliked Black and White 1 ONLY due to the strict only new pokemon rule, but you could breed quite early, but then Black and White 2, it fixed that and introduced more mons and IT WAS the perfect pokemon game ..but there is one thing I always painfully remember as to why I only played BW2 once. No Breeding in B&W 2 until post game. Why would you want to breed post game (I get it competitive / online), but that wains over time, but the biggest mistake was the failure to realise, people like to play-through the game with mons from other generations. If you don't have every device for pokemon and every pokemon game under the sun, your screwed to stick with the mons until end game that won't obey you. No other Pokemon game has ever done breeding post game, think about that. That turns what would be the number one pokemon game (this is coming from someone who was born in the 90s, so I grew with Pokemon) I'd of rated B&W2 as the definitive pokemon game, but it drops so hard with this weird design choice, no other Pokemon game ever included. I also never understood why B&W1 let you breed early, but B&W2 they removed it, meaning if you breed mons on white and black 1 and send them over to B&W2 they won't obey. Its madness. They could of at least had this rule in the hard mode, but not when you want to replay it. The replayability is hampered by that design choice.

Honestly, I love BW2; all its additional content is downright amazing.
The only thing I dislike about it, is that Iris is the new Champion - despite having nowhere near as great or important a presence as Alder. In BW, she mainly just hung out with Drayden, apart from being Bianca's temporary bodyguard in Castelia City (and being Opelucid's Gym Leader in White), barely doing much else. In BW2, she just guides you to Castelia Sewers.
I just don't think she was Champion material, y'know? And Alder was a more challenging foe as well, as you couldn't just steamroll him with Ice Beams or any other one move.

The fans fck up.

Even as someone that has been with the series from the start, Gen 5 is the best, personally I prefer BW over B2W2 but it’s still amazing and probably just behind it

Platinum may still be my favorite game in the franchise, but holy crap, I just recently got Black 2 again after losing my original copy so long ago, and I forgot just how awesome the game was.

I like how early we get n's PERFECT IV ZORUA. Like that's a free dark type and a pretty good one at that. That thing got me through the elite 4

I want Pokémon black and white remakes to have the same open world as scarlet and violet

The most perfect games are HGSS, no games even come close, these games are decent but literally nothing compared to HGSS

I love Gen 5. I found the story in B2W2 a bit underwhelming compared to BW, but I really liked the new areas and postgame content.

Once I'd completed the story in both games, I traded all my Pokémon from White to White 2 so I could continue adventuring with them. Thanks to the White Treehollow, I managed to train my favourites to level 100, the first time I had done so in a Pokémon game. Good times!

The ds era was the best , heartgold , soulsilver , platinum, black and white 2 are all excellent

It's sad that we're probably never going to get a Pokemon like this again. This was the series swan song, before all sense of creativity and effort was sucked out of the franchise forever.
