For anyone who wants to use texmod with this game, you may find that it runs like garbage even if you use this method. To fix that, change the BAT file to say texmod instead of steam and run the game like that and it should run smoothly.

yeah I'm not doing this just to play one game. Such a bummer but I'm getting a refund.

How u downloaded on steam?

I have a different problem with this game. First I downloaded the pirate version . But in the control settings there was a "?" instead of letters. I couldn't figure out which key was responsible for what. Also had a problem saving. Uninstalled the game. And bought a license on Steam. Problem with the "?" disappeared. But the saving problem is still there. Writes "save box is damaged" and if you exit the game, then all have to start from the beginning The game does not give to save gameplay and autosave also error.

Worked flawlessly, thank you for the fix. Now I can finally replay a big part of my childhood

So I have a non-steam version of the game. Would the batch file work if I just used the Prototype 2 .exe? Or not
EDIT: or would it work if I added Prototype 2 as a non-steam game?

After the previously hinted at starting the game exe with only 8 cores - which sounded locically to me but didn't work - I can happily say I tried your version and it bloody works!
