Simple Ways to Keep a Conversation Going

Rn I’m struggling with making up small talk when I’m just walking with friends and trying to find something in common between us to have conversation on. I say I’m pretty good at sounding interesting and fun to talk to when I’m in class with them because I can make small talk while already having a topic like homework or games on my phone. But I start to struggle when I have nothing like that to use. I avoid one on one walks to classes like this because I feel like they would get bored of me cuz I don’t know what to talk about. Any tips?

The “tell me more” but rephrasing into something else, I think can be a great way to keep the conversation going. Now that it’s been brought back to me I’ve actually done this before in the past and it worked similarly to how you explained it.
