I was reading about Japanese currency, and as soon as I saw that the 1¥ coin was made out of aluminum, I had to immediately come back to this video for ARUUUMINAMU

is how we pronounce aluminum in the periodic table. For refined aluminum we don't use a e sound that way it is know as strip of most impurities. With that said if I was to go to a aluminum sheet metal company I would ask for aluminum they why you pronounce it if need it for melting ingots and I would get a impurity level sticker under the ingots.

To be fair, Aluminum is spelled the way it sounds in American English. If you look, in British English it's spelled 'Aluminium'... and it sounds the way it's spelled as well. So really, we are both saying it correctly for the way it is spelled in our respective countries.
