Aww thanks for the shout out! Did a great job on the video, especially with the data. VERY interesting seeing Beko in dead-last. Ouch! One thing about the data set you had: it'd of been interesting to see warranty calls on all brands with and without icemakers (since we've both mentioned it), then service calls by freezer placement (top-mount, bottom-mount, side-by-side). We don't do many new units + warranty calls so my sample size is pretty limited, but if you ever do a follow up on this, that's something I'd be interested in. Same thing goes for an even larger company like, say, Yale.
ОтветитьThere are more digital and electronic parts in a fridge these days. It's important to use a quality surge protector to prevent expensive circuit board replacement.
ОтветитьLooking for used fridge excellent video !!!
ОтветитьAmana, Frigidaire, Electrolux. Yeah, But the stores in my town don’t really sell these. Almost all LG and Samsung……maybe 1 Amana so people buy LG and Samsung. Side by side….yeah, there’s not enough room. We use a lot of ice. Should I use my non-Ice maker side by side freezer to hold ice trays? Don’t know, yeah
ОтветитьThe girl and the information she provides is awesome!! Loved the line "But at the end of the day the reason you're buying a fridge is to keep food fresh... not split an atom" That was FAH!!!
ОтветитьI very much regret buying a Samsung 2 years ago.
ОтветитьMy current fridge is 29 years old and still running great. i am scared of buying a new fridge, as you say, they will only last a few years, and they are disposable. I guess I will do the same thing with my wife, just dispose of her and get a newer model every couple of years.
ОтветитьMy granny has a westinghouse, 71 years old. Still runs perfect!! Only the plug was replaced. Fridge !
ОтветитьThanks a lot for this informative video. What do you think about Hisense top mounted frodge freezer? Compared to LG, Samsung or Hitachi ones?
ОтветитьI've had the same GE fridge, stove and (above stove) microwave for the last 17 years with no major issues on any of them, but I'm thinking they may be coming to the end of their lifespans, so perhaps it is time to start looking for at least a new fridge? The worst time to buy one is right after your old one has failed and you are in a hurry to replace it... now, do I really need an older beer fridge in the garage? hmm.
ОтветитьHad a Samsung Fridge. Worked great (had it for 14 years and left it with the house). LG dishwasher. Best one I've ever owned. Have just got a GE garage ready fridge. Will see how well it works.
ОтветитьI had a roper refrigerator over 15 year never had a problem
ОтветитьI just replaced my Whirlpool after less than 10 years. I don't get why it didn't last longer than the one it replaced. Now I'm on to Maytag.
ОтветитьIf you can locate a fridge where it can “ breathe “ as in not sticking into a box cupboard kitchen cabinet design then it will run cooler. The less work a compressor must do the longer it will last. I realize that having a foot of distance between the back of the fridge and wall and having nothing on the sides thereby reducing airflow can be difficult to achieve. In a perfect world a fridge should sit in the middle of the kitchen with tons of airflow. This is not practical so what people do to their fridges is like keeping a car engine on a dyno forever, excruciatingly detrimental to the life of the compressor….
ОтветитьI got a Kenmore that was given to me by my parents in my garage. Freezer on top simple refrigerator they bought it in 1985 and it just broke down on me in 2023. I never cleaned the coils or nothing to it. They should refund our money🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьSamsung amd LG are easy to get repaired, Geek squad (best buy apliance repair) are authorized Samsung and LG servicers and are available if you live near a best buy store.
ОтветитьPro tip from a former luxury appliance salesman (Former NKBA member). The more basic the refrigerator, generally the more reliable it is. No ice maker is reliable, especially external dispensers. You sacrifice quality for convenience with external ice dispensing. Internal ice makers are the most reliable automatic icemakers, the most reliable is an ice cube tray.
Mechanical refrigerators (only top freezers) are the best for reliability (typically Frigidaire or GE/Haier). Look for internal cooling dial controls, not digital temp controllers.
Knock on wood, I have a Kitchenaid fridge for five years now and i am pleased with it.
ОтветитьRight on the money. Our LG needed the compressor replaced twice in the first 5ish years. Yes the part was warranted, but not the labor, which was about $350 each time. It’s now about 7ish years old and the door seals and torn, the door hinges are bad and and the flap in the center of the doors (French door refrigerator) is broken! Never again!
ОтветитьMeh. Half-cocked data, half-baked analysis of the data. You (correctly) tossed in a few important caveats, but many of the commenters here are not very discerning - meaning they don't understand how those caveats hugely impact your "opinion" of who makes the better appliance.
ОтветитьHi Ashley,
I am looking to buy a new house refrigerator. I have a Samsung french door that is not working properly, my frozen is thawed out and stopped working. What would be your best recommendation for me to purchase a new fridge?
Sharing this type of information, WOW!! This is what we need in todays age, honesty. You should work in sales. Mad respect!
ОтветитьA 2k fridge that lasts for 5 years isn’t so bad though. Even phones barely last that long and they cost $1k
ОтветитьThe best phrase I've ever heard for manufacturing anything, is "keep it simple"
ОтветитьI bought a Kenmore in 1990 still running fine. No frills 18 cubic foot with freezer on top.
ОтветитьMy 2 year old LG French door just croaked
ОтветитьThis is a great, informative, and useful video.
ОтветитьI've had two Samsung fridges over the course of 5 years and they both broke down so many times that with the warranties I bought for them, I was able to replace them both times. I then bought an LG and I LOVE it! Never had an issue in four years I've had it.
ОтветитьAll of them. Unless you are ready to fork out unrealistic money for a customized refrigerator, they are ALL garbage.
Edit: That is actually true for EVERYHTING. If you didn't get it custom made for you, to fit your specific needs(and wants), and out of the highest quality materials and components, your "whatever it is" is garbage. Straight up.
Us poor people have to settle on everything.
Big issue for me: COSTCO! They promote massively SAMSUNG and especially LG refrigerators. I purchased one a few days ago, still waiting to get it installed. The refrigerator is a phenomenal buy---$3000 marked down to $1400. With a bundled deal another $175 off for adding a Samsung microwave. It was just impossible to turn down this deal. I will purchase the extended warranty good for five years, but honestly, it is not enough of a warranty. Good useful video. Thanks.
ОтветитьThis is what happens when we let corporations become monopolies. Only 3 major players, selling many brand names leads to no competition/poor quality.
ОтветитьHisense never buy that one is terrible after warranty is going to break
ОтветитьUnfortunately, Whirlpool I have, the basic one, is not the reliable one.
ОтветитьMy 1942 Serval still works just fine, keeps the ice-cream firm .
ОтветитьMy Samsung fridge started failing at 10 years. It froze up in spots. Collected water in other spots. And the door hinge simply wore out.
ОтветитьGet to the Point !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьI got all kenmore elite appliances that have been working great. Got them in 2013 and finally fridge compressor failed last year, not bad for 9 years. Got that replaced and working fine. Also last year the microwave magnetron failed, replaced that and been fine as well. Dishwasher and oven had no issues.
Ответитьamana broke twice costing$300 each time, now issue again.wish we could get sub zero.
ОтветитьAll of the new fancy fridges are trash. The simpler the design the longer they will last. Get a top mount. But even better than that dont get a combo fridge freezer at all if you have the space. For the price of these new fancy fridges, you can get a stand up freezer and a fridge only fridge and put them nex to each other.
ОтветитьGreat video however you didn’t have Subzero mentioned anywhere. Maybe you don’t sell or service those but perhaps you are familiar with the quality and how it compares to say Thermador.
ОтветитьSamsung refrigerators worst you can buy. My son and I have different models they both freeze up and have to be defrosted every few months . They are both online about three years old.
ОтветитьI’ve heard it’s best to pick one without all the bells & whistles. I’ve got a Kitchen Aid with a top mount freezer & no bells & whistles & no issues not even one service call . In the pass 20 yrs & still going strong 💪
ОтветитьIn 2016, we went all in with Samsung in our kitchen remodel. All 6 appliances failed within 5 years. The oven and refrigerator ice maker failed within warranty. The refrigerator needed constant after market fixes. It was the worst and most costly. The worst item was the dishwasher. Although I could repair it myself. I had to blow on a pipe every 6 months, even after changing our washing habits. Turns out the Frigidaire we got to replace it doesn't get anything dry, so we aren't just po pooing Samsung. Bottom line use Samsung for tvs screens and phones - not kitchen appliances! The applicance that lasted the longest was the microwave. But the turntable broke. Samsung is junK.
ОтветитьYour information is completely wrong! All family members and friends including me (I have more than 7 years LG) who have LG or Samsung have never issues as you mentioned!
ОтветитьHow about Bosch?
ОтветитьAny stats on Media freezers? Just lost ours with almost half a beef in it.
ОтветитьI have a Kenmore french door with ice maker in the door and it has been awesome.
ОтветитьLG: my LG G4 failed because of improper soldering. Two friends' LG G3s failed for the same reason. Yes, LG didn't fix this in the next generation and just decided to silence the problem. Since then I haven't bought even an LG pencil. I''m sorry for the people who had their LG refrigerators replaced.
ОтветитьAbsolutely…LG and Samsung. Remember, LG is the rebranded GoldStar, the cheapest crap you could buy at Walmart back in the 80’s and 90’s. Oh…Millennials can’t remember back that far. Stay away from the Korean crap. That goes for Kia and Hyundai, too.
ОтветитьMy grandparents bought a new
Sears cold spot in 1975 side by side , it lasted a good 49 years , the only parts ever replaced was evap blower
And 3 defrost timers .
