Reluctant to watch "hard" films, I was drawn to see
this one. Which anounced racial problem in USA at
early sixties.
Not something I'm in a mood to process. But...
As it happened few times lately, I was more than pleasantly surprised.
This is a beautiful love story. And actually the true one.
This film represents one simple yet excellent example
how love someone and spend with her/him the whole life should look like.
This is my dream. I wished to have love like this.
Like each time, I comment that it can be said so much about
this excellent movie. To me. But the best thing is just...

I am a guy from Poland. I love hip-hop culture, I love basketball and I always dreamed to have a black queen as a wife. I am a big, tall strong guy but I shed tears watching this trailer.

I remember dating this girl named Josie (a black woman) for a few months and getting so many dirty looks the entire time in either a predominantly black or white setting. It’s sad the world is still like this to this day.

In the year 2000! Alabama Amendment 2, also known as the Alabama Interracial Marriage Amendment, was a proposed amendment to the Constitution of Alabama to remove Alabama's ban on interracial marriage. Interracial marriage had already been legalized nationwide 33 years prior in 1967, following Loving v. Virginia, making the vote symbolic. The amendment was approved with 59.5% voting yes, a 19 percentage point margin, though "25 of Alabama's 67 counties voted against it". Alabama was the last state to officially repeal its anti-miscegenation laws.

I missed this movie when it came out. But I knew of the case Loving vs Virginia. I came across this beautiful movie gem today on Netflix. Gawd, this movie hits in my heart, all up in the feelings. This movie just brings you inside Mildred and Richard's life. They simply loved each other and wanted to be happy. Ruth and Joel were superb.
