I’ve been listening to More Parts Per Million again and the raw energy in it is something to behold, The Thermals played in my hometown Belfast once back in 2009, but I was only a kid back then and couldn’t see them. Listening to this album again reminds me how they really were such a major part of my childhood. RIP, The Thermals, I’ll always miss you.

When I was 8 my mom bought this EP and would play it in the car on the way to school, and I feel like this song kind of shaped the person I grew up to be, as I'd listen to it daily.

I always loved how you can hear some lyrics differently and they completely still fit the theme of the song.

Like, "no self-reference" can easily be "no self-reverence."

And "no one ideal, know what I feel" can be "no one ideal, no one 'I feel.'"

Well I've been listening since 2002....That's 10 years, is it not? I don't "pretend" to love them to be "hip" (lol) -_-...I listen because I want to hear what they have to say, and the way it makes me feel.

Do you think big bands just start big? Even if they don't stay together long enough to make it, if they made alright music people are going to listen to it.

this is one my favourite bands and favourite songs. it is actually structurally and tonally quite complicated and has a great raw vibe. the lyrics as always with Hutch are amusing as well as ripping on modern society. t's just great punk-pop and i for one think that is more than a passing fad...
