Here's an interesting fact: most ps4 and ps5 games would truly be under 20gb if they did NOT include other languages besides english and had left DUPLICATE data in updates. I took gow ragnarok (110gb) on the ps4 and stripped away all duplicate data and all languages besides english and was left with a 51gb game. Played it start to finish no problems.

You can barely emulate most commercial PS3 games , so untill that has 98.0 % playability on those games. You won't see anything close to this being playable.

You can emulate some 2d games and whatever but you can't emulate big stuff like Bloodborne elden ring and whatever well if they can it would take years like atleast 4+ for ps4 but ps5 wait atleast 10 yrs

So a little note on your "by the time you see this PS5 or maybe even PS4 emulator up to where you can have these games completely playable they might just be available on steam anyway" emulators aren't really for these games emulators are for preservation and we're not talking the big games that Sony may port forward to newer systems of course those are the eye catching ones everyone wants but when it comes to preservation we're talking about the exclusive games that Sony or even the third party dev considers expendable for a perfect example I dunno if you remember the digital only ps3 exclusive Rain or the digital only PS3 exclusive Papo and Yo cause if you don't neither does Sony and these would be non playable when the PS3 game servers inevitably get shut down if nobody decided to download it to their system now and just one person having it downloaded to their slowly dying PS3 isn't gonna be helpful for the majority of people hence why emulation exist.

TLDR basically emulators are so we don't let games like Lollipop Chainsaw, Rain, or PT be left behind just because the devs decided not to put them on PC or port them forward to another console it's our history and who better to look after our history than us when the corporations don't care to preserve our history other than when it's to make a quick buck.

my theory is by the time these new emulators are running smooth, the hardware on the pc side will also have upgraded to a better standard, such as petabyte hard drives and gigabit ethernet being standard in every home so downloading these 80-100gb games will feel the same as downloading a 20-30gb game today. seems more reasonable when you think that the ps5 emulation won’t be smooth until we near the end of the ps5 lifecycle which is many years away

If sony is starting to worry about ps4 emulation, all they really need to do is port bloodborne and almost all interest in a ps4 emulator will evaporate

Since they up the price its not worth buying a ps5 for the exclusives, until price drops and availability gets better or does a microsoft where I can play ps5 with pc, emulation is my go to

Pretty sure that Sony is starting to see that emulators are going to become inevitable specially as they use more and more generic PC style computer parts.
I mean, they have announced a few PC versions of PS4-5 exclusives already.
