Not the best day for your date to be froze on
ОтветитьThe synchronization you did with the sound and what was negotiated with the provider to make the connection was incredible, excellent video! 👑
ОтветитьI always hated getting kicked off AOL multiple times in a row and hearing "goodbye!" when you connected for a second.
ОтветитьBro, why the control panel looks better on Windows 95 then Windows 11?
ОтветитьJudging by the comments, many people don't realize that this is still the only way to receive the internet in many places.
Ответитьfirstly: amazing music taste with the vector graphics track!! works so well for this stuff
secondly: this is so cool, being fully equipped for the authentic experience is totally worth it imo!
Slowed down the dial-up thingy at the beginning to 0.25x speed, saw this.

Some of these happen so quickly that they take milliseconds to pass even when setting the video to 0.25x speed, which is crazy.
This is so sick. I need to build a windows 98 PC soon so I can try this.
Ответитьfire beats
ОтветитьD2 Shareware 😏
ОтветитьAH the sounds of my childhood, where i'm trying to look at a noody and my mom picked up the phone right before the tiddy's lol. 30 mins down the drain haha
Ответитьdude your channel is so sick so happy i ran across your content 👌
ОтветитьMy heart was beating fast as my mind was taking me back to my younger self who used this for first time 😮
ОтветитьGolden ages of the internet was in the late 90's and mid to late 00's. Today it's mostly subscriptions, ads and dead links - a shell of it's former self.
I remember downloading Quake mods from BluesNews and getting mp3's from Limewire
207 is Maine area code lol
ОтветитьMy first "high speed" modem as a kid was a 14.4K on AOL and we had to call tech support to get it to work right cause it was they put it "too fast" 😄
Ответитьgood good now play world of warcraft
ОтветитьCan confirm that while I had a V.92 modem it was not ever supported by my ISP.
ОтветитьThis is a comedy right?😁😁😁 Seriously though, this sooooo cool 🆒!!!💪💪😀😀
ОтветитьAll these businesses are gonna be screwed when this whole internet fad is over!
Ответитьso cool
ОтветитьOh my gosh this is AWESOME!!!! I never experienced dial up myself but id LOVE to see more videos on it!!! Like what kinda sites can you still visit? Id love to learn more :D!! Instant subscribe from me
ОтветитьMeanwhile some 20 something year old Junior Network admin in an AT&T data center is thinking "The fuck is that clicking sound..."
ОтветитьWait 9/11 2001? What .....
ОтветитьV92 was actually pretty good because you could over-clock it and get close to 128k speeds with a modem firmware flash. Did it to ours and it was noticeably faster.
ОтветитьSTOP
ОтветитьThe way I describe dial-up to people that don't know is "Dial-up is your computer having a heated argument with a modem on the phone but they eventually come to some common ground and understand each other"
ОтветитьMy first modem was a USR 9600 HST which I used on a Commodore Amiga. I ran a BBS on a 9600 with an Amiga 500 running a 40mb harddrive (megabyte not gigabyte)
Ответитьconnect with someone else online via 56K and game
ОтветитьI'd like to see if you can get Windows for Workgroups 3.11 up and running with Trumpet Winsock, one of the very first tcp/ip stack for windows. The first version to have it baked in was Win95, I believe.
Add Netscape Navigator 16 bit and off to the races!
Not to many people still have a land line.
ОтветитьWhat a surreal watch... my housemate and I just strung 90 ft of Ethernet cable to get Gigabit ethernet speeds in our rooms in this ancient house via a NETGEAR 5-port unmanaged switch I had lying around. We're blown away by the speeds and reduction of latency. WiFi in the middle of the city gets so much interference, Ethernet is still the way to go.
ОтветитьMemories man, thank you.
First got on the net in 1994 as a 10 year old, and immediately started talking sh*t in yahoo chat. People were actually civilized trying to have good conversations, and I came in messing everything up. I was trolling before that was even a word. Don't get my started on when they released voice chat, and I bought a mic. Entire weekends revolved around me and my friends holding down the talk button to hog the mic from 100 people.
Fast forward a few years, and I finally got my own dedicated phone line. I left my PC up 24/7 downloading mp3s off IRC. Bought the first CD-RW for like $500 bucks and started ripping CDs for everyone at my school. I made a mint.
I was hanging out in IRC one day, and this random message popped up in chat talking about this easier, more streamlined way to share music. It was Napster. Got on and although it had roughly 10k users it soon took off like wild fire.
I had a 6 speed 1998 Z28 to go pick up my dates I spit game at on the AOL instant messenger.... listening to my ripped CDs with the t tops out.
You kids have no idea how good we had it.
That Modem gives me PTSD😂
ОтветитьOh buddy, just because 56K came out in 98 doesn't mean V.34 was only used up until then lol - I unfortunately had a 28.8k/s modem up until 2000, and from there til 02 I still had 33.6k.
ОтветитьModem sounds scared me when I was a kid 😂
Ответитьfunfact u can play unreal tournament whit a 28 k modem no problem and there are still servers online so if u realy want to test out your old modem .....
ОтветитьSo many levels of nostalgia.
ОтветитьDude, it is called Tera Term for Windows modem COM1 🙂
ОтветитьI seriously didn’t think this was even possible! This is nuts!

ОтветитьAstolfo figurine in every shot and very quick cameo from Blåhaj. Based.
Also didn't know any dialup ISPs were still on.
As a Mainer, hilarious to see all the NetZero numbers you listed were Maine (207 is our only area code). I wonder why that is.
