Nice sharing
ОтветитьIt's a good song about losing in a drifting video game.
ОтветитьHere's an interesting story that shows just how far this song crossed over. It's from a Metal Sludge interview with Ron Keel (singer of the '80s hair-metal band Keel) who spent the mid-'90s/early 2000's performing as a country singer.
MS : In our 1st interview we asked you about touring with superstars like Motley Crue and Bon Jovi. Now that you spent a decade playing country, tell us about what country stars you shared the stage with. The good, bad and the ugly.
Ron : One of my coolest Nashville stories actually comes from 1985 when they flew KEEL to Nashville to participate in “Hands Across America,” a charity event that consisted of a human chain of people holding hands from coast to coast. Big names like Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Anyway, KEEL was on a celebrity tour bus from Nashville, full of all these famous Country singers and songwriters, and we had about a four hour ride to where we were supposed to be a part of the chain. After having partied all night long the previous evening, we climbed on the bus, put our leather jackets over our heads and passed out – I’m sure we were frowned upon by the Country folk.
Four hours later they woke us up, dragged us off the bus...we held hands in the big human chain, took pictures for the news and media, and climbed back on the bus. By now, we were awake and they started passing around an acoustic guitar, as is the custom in Nashville – everybody would sing a song and then pass the guitar on to the next guy. Finally, after everybody had a turn, they reluctantly passed the guitar to me, deathly afraid of what hellish metal noise might follow. I wasn’t sure what to sing, but a few seats down from me was a man named Dobie Gray, who had a huge hit with “Drift Away”…so I started playing and singing “Drift Away,. You should have seen his eyes get big, and a smile come across his face, and everybody on the bus started singing. What a magical moment.
1973, this song has been one of my all time favorites for 50 years! It never gets old! ❤
ОтветитьFantastic Song, love it ❤ and like him and Uncle Cracker sing it walking down railroad tracks❤
Ответить"Dobie Gray's 'Drift Away,' released in 1973, is a soulful and timeless ballad. Gray's expressive vocals convey the universal desire to find solace and escape through music. The lyrics beautifully express the narrator's longing to 'drift away' from life's troubles. The song features a notable guitar solo by Duane Allman, adding a distinctive touch. 'Drift Away' achieved commercial success and has remained a classic in the rock genre. Its enduring popularity is evident through various cover versions, testifying to the emotional resonance and universal appeal of this soul-stirring piece of music."

Ответить50 years ago, and still great. Thank you Mr. Gray for this
timeless classic.
Love it thanks Johnnie
ОтветитьSongs like this take me back to when my mother was young. In my head I can hear her singing. I wish I was a better son. I made life hard on her and its my single greatest regret. She would do anything for me. She would go to be hungry if it meant me and my sister ate. She worked so many hours at jobs I know she hated. I wish I could have appreciated her then like I do now.
ОтветитьBest song of the world!
