This was beautiful. I’ve always wanted to work with teenagers and I think I came across this video for a reason. God is telling me in my heart that this is the way

As good as this video is, the "No one would open their home" mentioning brings a lot of things to my mind....the system has their little group of people that it places kids with that have gone through the paperwork process....but I bet there were a lot of people if asked who would have opened their doors and let that boy into their lives...gotta think outside the box, and outside of those foster care people plain and simple. It takes a village to raise a child, ever hear of that? If people in the community knew that this boy need a home, or was going to be placed in a juvenile detention center only because there wasn't a foster home for him I bet doors would have flung wide open welcoming this boy into a warm, and loving home. Just because people haven't gone through the nonsense paperwork shuffle to be accepted into the foster program doesn't mean everybody else in the world doesn't have the means of taking care of a child and giving them shelter, love, guidance, and a life outside of the overbearing system....and for many, if not all the kids that have dealt with the foster care system would say the same....its overbearing on them, very intrusive, and most times not helpful to their overall wellbeing.

So glad Darien is home forever, he has been through a lot, his struggles in life are there, it'll take a long time to get him past all that even though the adoption process is over, he will still have the fear of being taken, the fear of having to leave a family he's grown to know and love, and who loves him...when the judge started speaking about him no longer being a ward of the state, and he broke down, at that instant I think he realized this is it, he's home, he's never leaving again, tons of weight lifted off that young man's shoulders in an instant.

Being someone that was a foster/adoptive kid this story touched my heart, it brought tears to my eyes to see someone whose been through so much find light at the end of his dark tunnel, one of my favorite moments was when the judge was finalizing the adoption you could tell in his eyes the happiness, the joy, the feeeling of being wanted, the pain, the hurt it all showed I couldn’t be more happy for this young man! Praying that nothing but peace love and happiness covers your life YOU DESERVE IT MY GUY!

I am grateful to say that I am a born again Christian and have been since I was 19.......when i see this video it just touches my heart and also breaks my heart to think that are actually children in this world who’s parents have either abandoned them abused or been mean to them, or just simply cannot or refuse to have anything to do with their own children!!!! and they have to either be put in foster care or up for adoption!!!!praise be to God that i have been raised under parents who have never done any of those things but instead have dearly loved me, and never have kicked me, or my sisters out of our family!!!!! and the same is true if you belong to Jesus Christ!!!!! he is no respecter of persons! he wants to adopt all who are willing to turn to him and he will never turn you down exclude or kick you out of his family regardless of what you look like, how old you are, or what race or label you may wear!!!! however folks if you don’t know him as your savior then it burdens my soul to think that you are headed for a terrible place called Hell where the Bible says the fire is never quenched and the worm dies not! Folks you are not promised tomorrow! If you want to know how to be saved from this horrible reality then please by all means don’t hesitate to comment right back so I can lead you to the savior! 2 Corinthians 6:2 clearly states “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation!” And Hebrews 3:15 clearly states, “Today if you hear his voice don’t harden your hearts! It is not me but the Holy Spirit that I pray reveals to you the truth of his precious gospel......John 3:16 says for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes on him will not perish but have everlasting life! V 17 says then V 18 says whoever believes on the son is not condemned but whoever does not believe on the son is condemned already because he has not believed on the son whom God has sent! Also Acts 16:30-31 what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house I am not threatening anyone but just warning them what will happen if they reject this precious gift of eternal life! Christ died a horrible criminals death! He was beaten brutally mocked spit upon and endured countless hours of torture pain for all of our sins! Ppl go to hell because they reject that pardon for their sins! And Jesus is saying to them in Matthew 25:41 depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! Hell was only prepared for Satan and his angels! It is not God who threatens anyone it is the craziness of rejecting the free pardon of salvation! It’s like if you’re in court you’ve committed a crime say you murdered someone! Now if you say to that Judge hey I know I’ve done a terrible thing of murdering that person but I hear you’re a good judge and so I know you’ll be fair to me...... the judge is going to reply well yes you’re right about one thing I am a good judge and because I’m a good judge I’m going to see to it that you’re punished and that justice is served! Well then all of a sudden someone you don’t even know comes forward and says you know what I know he’s committed the crime he’s committed and he deserves to go to jail but I really don’t want to see him go to prison so I’ll just go to prison for him so he can go free! So if you accepted that offer you’d be free to leave the courtroom but if you didn’t well you’d be crazy and go to prison yourself! Well that’s exactly how it was 2,000 years ago! He is God in human flesh and he came to this earth lived a perfect sinless life and even though he knew that we had sinned and because of our sins deserved to die miserably but he said no I don’t want to see them suffer so I will go and take their punishment for them! Even though he did absolutely nothing wrong still he chose to take the punishment for our sins so we can be set free from the power bondages and consequences of our disobedience to God! Romans 5:8 says For God commends his love toward us that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! 1 John 2:2 says he was made to be the propitiation for our sins! And not just for our sins but the sins of the whole world! 2 Corinthians 5:21 He who knew no sin became Sin for us that we would be made his righteousness! The truth is if you had to get to Heaven by your own effort then you cannot do it! Because Romans 3:10 says there is not one that does good! No Not One! Romans 3:23 says For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death! But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord! But the good news is Romans 10:9 If we confess with our mouth and believes in our hearts that Christ died for our sins then was raised from the dead we will be saved! V 10 For it’s with the heart we believe and it’s with the mouth confession is made unto salvation! God gave us 10 commandments to follow and we’ve broken every one of them! And because God is a good God he cannot allow our disobedience to him to go unpunished! Well then like I just mentioned above his son Jesus stepped forward and said no I don’t want to see them punished so I will take their punishment for them! And also like I said he died a terrible substitute criminal’s death for us on a cross so now all we have to do is accept that payment for our sins and we can escape the terrible wrath of God that is to fall on them who do not accept this atonement that was sacrificed for our sins! Praise the lord Romans 10:13 says Whoever calls on the name of the lord shall be saved! And 1 Peter 1:4 you’re an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you! Christ clearly said in John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father but through me! Acts 4:12 clearly states that there is no other name given unto Heaven or earth by which we must be saved as there is salvation in no other! Jesus clearly states that there is clearly only one way to Salvation and it’s him that’s it! There is no other way! God Bless everyone who reads!

This is so beautiful but also a terrible indictment on society that doesn't support young mothers and their children. Until people appreciate how much we need to spend, workforce and materials, to prevent children from ending up in the foster care system and not see it as evil socialism and mothers exploiting welfare, nothing will change. Children are our greatest resource, and we need to invest in them.

I've always wanted to be a foster mom.. but I was married to a jerk who said he'd never raise another person's child. He would not even allow my brothers 2 year old come into our home after my brother was murdered and the child's mother when to prison. (He ended up with a great family that I absolutely adore and am close with ) It wasn't fair to him for me to take him into a home where someone in the home didn't want him when there was a beautiful infertile couple who loved and wanted him so much

Let's just mention how emotionally stable, mature and articulate Darrien is, considering how many times he was failed. By the biological parents, by the foster homes, by the entire system.

All 3 are blessed with each other. They came along just in time to still let him have fun and a little childhood.

I’m scared that if i adopted a teen they might just hate me and ghost me as soon as they graduate highschool

I teach 16 and 17 year olds. Trust Darrian when he says they only look cold but they are warm. Teens are just warm and fuzzy and really sensitive, but highly misunderstood. Yes, they need guidance, yes they make mistakes...but don't we all?
They are at an age when they need a firm foundation. Please give that to them. A lot of prayers, a lot of discernment, but also a lot of love.

Brought tears to my eyes and oh, how I'd have loved to offer a life to a youngster! I have had such an exciting life and never that feeling of having someone to share it with or to give the benefit of all the wisdom gained. Too old now and back from a wonderful life in France to this awful, woke, police state where far too many people are crammed into too little habitable space and what I've returned to find is no more than a police state with everyone spying, accusing, reporting everything that doesn't match their own views. Darien was a catch and a half, seeming so kind, humorous, handsome, agile and openly loving. It must be a joy to call him your son and see him over all the trials and tribulations of youth and in his case, his circumstances. I pray that everything is still as fine as when this clip was made. Luv all round x

This is the best thing I’ve seen all day! My heart is so full and I’m so happy for Darien and his family. The Karenbauers are so full of unconditional love, I’m so glad fate brought them all together. I can feel God is trying to tell me something from this documentary.

Something needs to be done about our foster care system. And you know I hate to bring it up but with the banning of abortion in so many states, this problem is only going to get worse. If we actually care about kids, we have to actually care about kids.this young boy to be in a detention center is not acceptable. We’ve gotta do better. So much better.
