Pixel XL or iPhone 7 Plus? I'm stuck on getting one of these two.

With a 12 month contract and benefits from my employer I got the pixel for free.

I would possibly buy if it were in the $400-500 range (for the pixel) and had stereo speakers otherwise this is a pass for me.

I don't understand how they wanna compete with other phones when they went from a 500 device to 750 just because HTC built the phone. Glad OnePlus 3 cane to the rescue. I'm done with expensive phones. Just look at the iPhone 7. almost 1000 dollars for the 7+. I think is pathetic.

I really like the pixel xl. but only in black. people complain about it not being water resistant even though the iPhone is. that's true, but the pixel has a much better screen. it's compromises really. I got to play with one the other day for the first time and I loved it. would I trade my galaxy s7 for it? I think I would.

Watching this on a Pixel XL. I was very skeptical at first, but it just works and it does it well, so anyone who buys it will not be disappointed.

Best, most prominent and brightest halo lens flare I've ever seen on a smartphone. Impressive work from a multi billion dollar company.

The only time I see this device in public is when I'm watching a video review of it. It is definitely overpriced.

Pixel should be priced $349 and Pixel Xl should pe priced $449

Hopefully next years model is more exciting than this year although it's is not a bad phone considering this is Googles 1st attempt at their own device, it's not all that compelling either, considering it's extortionate pricing and although it may be to some, voice assistant doesn't interest me in the least.

Nobody would even consider Pixel line an option if Note 7 were available. That is just the cold hard truth. The phone is just plain. The software is ahead of its time, but people won't appreciate its features until its time comes with all other major manufacturers support it. I don't know what Google was thinking with pricing Pixel at that range. Note 7 blows it out of the water.

Yea price tag is the problem . But Google is sort of doing what one plus did just walking in and thinking you're a giant they might have a lesson to learn about that

No.

They didn't spend much time optimizing. They just didn't add bloatware and gave a truly stock experience. The Nexus 4 on Nougat is still silky smooth, so why wouldn't it be on the Pixel?

Far Far Far too expensive, I didn't realise how expensive it was going to be in the UK. it's gonna flop big style over here, Google just don't have the cache to pull off that level of pricing for a hardware product.

the slow mo footage is a mess, its not as smooth as the iphone 7 slow mo and yes partly due the lack of hump is due to no ois . Ok google voice commands sounds abit off..

Google tries to make an iPhone

Antenna bands directly from Apple, doesn't even outperform the 6s, unnecessary huge chin and weirdly designed two panel on the back with a camera not as good as claimed but with a price tag similar to the 7+. This thing is good, but not worth the price and hype.

Although I agree that so many cheaper phones are almost as good, I think it HAS to be priced high to be popular really. If it were much cheaper like previous Nexus phones, it doesn't really compete with iPhone or other high end devices. And people tend to spend lots of money/lease their phones, so it's one market in which people are fine with paying more. Hyundai has the same problem, it's priced too low to compete with the established luxury brands.
On a separate note, my XL does not have the lens flare issue.

The Pixel is a phone with great hardware, but nothing remarkable. It takes amazing software and hardware advancements (such as the electronic stabilization) and makes it a background process. Google wanted the hardware to get out of the way and highlight their incredible software. Many people wanted Google to do something different and flashy. The challenge with doing that is that their new target market (i.e. the general consumer) is just not buying flashy this year. People are buying refinement - look to the Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7. Phones like the LG G5 have essentially fallen out of most people's consideration. Also, despite how popular the Moto X was, the Moto Z has just not been met with that same amount of customer enthusiasm. I would venture a guess that the Moto Mods are not selling all that well either.

Let us hope that next year is the year of industry shifting innovation. Samsung is out with something to prove, Apple is expected to do something big for their 10th Anniversary iPhone, LG needs to revive its G line, etc. Let us hope that Google absorbs this energy and brings us something with even better, more original hardware next year.

Juan Carlos, there is something you did not mention about the unlimited photo storage which is available to everyone. While it is true that you can store all the images up to 16 MP that you wish, ALL of those images are subject to compression even if they are less than 16 MP. If you wish your photos to be saved from compression, you must purchase storage. Although it does not tip the scale for me at this price, the offer of unlimited full quality photos is quite impressive.
