Another missed opportunity story wise, game should have had an option to not destroy Red and ally with the Reachmen.

My favorite Draugr might be Olaf.

INSULENT BARD! DIEEEEE! as he wakes up and faces you and a ghostly bard next to you. What that bard must have done to Olaf seems to be so bad for him, that he outright hates that bard so much, that even in death he insults him and gets angry at him and wants him dead and gone for good.

Nate this is always been one of the top 10 mysteries of all time for Skyrim... Thanks for covering this. I've always been curious to find out who or what exactly raised these undead creatures of old. Was it a faction of powerful necromancers? Was it the dragon priests? Or did alduin's influence really have that much effect on the land? Was he not only raising other lieutenants of his, but did his shout echo through the halls of those ancient Nordic burial tombs and awaken and unspeakable evil, reaching as far as the ears of those dragon priests as well? We all know that in the dawnguard DLC there was a dragon that we get to meet that was practicing necromancy, arguably we can say that this is most likely true... Alduin had necromantic powers? We see it in a short seeing about the hills of kynesgrove... What was he actually saying what does that translate to... Words that Alduin spoke? Can he raise the undead and have them serve under his will? Was he raising an army of not only dragons but also that of legions of Ancient undead Nords... Gifted not only with the power of Frost magic, but also the power of The voice? There seems to be two different factions of undead draughr... The skyrim Draughr and Solstheim. It's all in the eyes. Well they may serve as keepers... Something heinous is also afoot...

Look for the mod called "mainland stalhrim deposits" it adds those deposits to Skyrim and gives you a little something extra to go hunting for a while you're in those tombs... You'll need an Ancient Nordic Pickaxe in order to retrieve those ore deposits. There's only two of those pickaxes in the entire game... Happy Hunting my friends.

First they'll disarm those bada** Swords, then fus-ro-dah them across the tomb, it be like "Nuh-uh... Dragonborn... I'm already undead... I ain't dyin' again...not today"! 😂

The way I see it, the draugr and dragon priests of solstheim Skyrim were probably followers of Miraak. Hear me out; we know that Miraak existed at the height of the Dragon Cults power, before they became despots. Eventually Miraak rose against the dragons, abandoning them for Hermaus Mora or "Herma-Mora" as the Skall call him. Miraak abandoned the cult in favor of Hermaus' "Forbidden Knowledge".

It wouldn't be surprising that Miraak enticed other Dragon priests and their followers with this knowledge, driving a few to his side. This is supported by the fact that the dragon priests masks you find on solstheim look very similarly to Miraaks, or more closely to his followers you run into. Some of the word walls you run into also reference Miraak or alluding to him. Another thing to also consider is the fact that most of these unique priests have in their possession, one of Hermaus' Mora's "Black Books", which of course contains the aforementioned heretic knowledge. This information is further supported by the fact that one priest we run into, Ahzidal, was at one point a Nord man who's quest for knowledge led to insanity and finally damnation, being driven into his barrow on the island.

Just my two cents.

the most memorable thing about the draugrs was... the eyes effect bug that you get from the life aura shout that permanently make glowy eyes on your characters and you have to use console, race menu or mods to reset it

An explanation for the skaal all being trapped in barrows at the same time was the eruption of the red mountain possibly or if not the one I’m thinking of an earlier less disastrous eruption

Many years ago, while playing Skyrim not too long after it first came out, I remember that one time upon entering Whiterun, a horde of Draugr simply appeared within the city and just walked out its gates. I have no idea why this happened, and I don't recall it ever happening a second time, but it was so odd that it still remains in my mind to this day.

My headcannon is that when they try to transfer her from her human body to her avatar in the first movie, the spirit tree knew she was too weak and therefor gave the woman who she knew had a deep love, connection and curiosity for the planet a child, almost to give her a second life. The child is part of the planet. An extension of it. When she dies and is burries, a new spirit tree will grow.

Miraak's tomb sure did have a claw wall. But since he betrayed the dragons and killed quite a few of them, its likely that after he was defeated by Vahlok the Jailer, the claw to the door was likely found, and either buried far away, or thrown into the sea to add insult to injury. And since Miraak was mind-controlling people and had them rebuilding his temple, he had his thralls break the door down.

On the thought of the drauger being different in the games. What if they were still aggressive because they still attained their memories, of hunger, fear, anger and desperation. But with time they lost those memories, and just became reactive to anything that moves? Thus just being trapped into their bodies(by whatever caused it).

I don't think the individual claws are mechanical keys. Rather the pattern on them is a key and the claws function more like a tool to spin the center.

Gameplay wise you need the right key but nothing about the shape or holes on the door or the claws make them seem like they only fit their one door.
