Looks great, I own a few minimal audio plugs but this sub model means it’s defiantly a NO. Even phase plant offered a full licence alongside a sub option when first released. Big shame tbh

There is a positive thing about subscriptions, they save you money because you discard these companies.

The market is already saturated with flagship synths and you've got Zebra 3 and Serum 2(with involvement of DMG audio!) probably being released some time in the next 6 months or so. That they think they can make this subscription only (and an expensive one at that) strikes me as a pretty odd business decision.

Fantastic video as usual, but it's only the subscription - I "rented" UVI Falcon effects and soundware - but also the pricing seems outrageous for something that doesn't look remotely a gamechanger

VPS Avenger is a much better deal IMO and doesn't require a greedy subscription. It's also meant to be getting a very cool update soon, adding a ton amazing stuff including some very interesting generative features. Current looks like a great synth, and I've really liked the MA stuff so far, but supporting a crazy subscription model like this is asking for trouble. The greed is really showing their true colours.

This literally the same as VPS Avenger but seems a lot more limited. Can you add more oscillators/samplers? In VPS Avenger you can have up to 16 and build entire tracks inside 1 plugin.

Minimal can go get rekt. I was so looking forward to this release and this is such a let down. Their existing sub is already called Stream, $5/month to download 50 of their sample sounds per month. If they charged $15 for that and Current, I might stomach it a little better. I think they might be? The site shows Current plan as an update to Stream. I reached out to Minimal on Twitter...

The synth looks fine but I don't like the stupid (and in my case expensive) subscription with tons of stuff I will probably never used. So Sorry, Minimal Audio. Not for me. im owning Pigments, Phaseplant and many others... Still enough.

Great video, amazing synth, but no matter how good it is, subscription is just not a good business model - hope minimal can see a way of offering a one off cost version.

I’m also not a fan of subscriptions for synths, but at least it won’t stop working entirely if you cancel:

Just like Rift, it needs a mod matrix to visualize complicated patches better. Also, eff subscriptions they must be crazy.

It’s so pity not only it’s a vst, but if it’s suppose to be a instrument, then imagine you are playing a real instrument like guitar or piano but not allowed to buy it. So stupid idea, it’s like saying don’t use this for months or years. Use it for a short time.

The Sub is a Mistake on their part, Laughing with all customers that own all the effects they have embedded in this Synth is a shame if you ask me, hope they reconsider that

Definitely an amazing synth! I would rent it, sure, but not for $15 a month. I mean I can "rent" ChatGPT for $5 more and that's laterally the bleeding edge of human technology ffs! If they set the price at $3, $5 max a month, it'd be a no brainer. I'm positive they'd make up in subscription volume what they lost in base pricing for sure if they went that route.

That's something I just don't get about any of these software companies. They make the product once, sell it infinitely, but still act as if it's a hard good. There's no materials to source. No real distribution chain other than making the download available to the retailers. Inventory? What even does that word mean? Yes there's bugs, patching and adding more functionality, but don't get me started on the ethics of the all too common practice of shipping a half finished, half featured product then selling support and DLC as some sort of value. Just don't. So it really comes down to if you'd want (this is just an example to illustrate my point) $100 a month from 1 person or $1 a month from 100 people. Not factoring in transaction fees for the $1 for simplicity sake, but let's just assume that's added to the $1. It's vastly better to get the Benjie from 100 people for several reasons: 1) If you lose a $1 customer, you've only lost $1 in revenue vs $100 if you lost the other. 2) Having 100x the customer base is better for marketing and investment no matter how you slice it. 3) There's well more than 100x the people that are willing to part with $1 a month for something of value to them than the reverse. Meaning it's likely by charging $1 a month, you'd get say 500 customers vs the 1 for $100. It's the same with taxes. Lower rates yield more revenue. 4) Piracy? What even does that word mean for something that costs a buck? Not paying taxes? What even does that mean with a 7% tax rate?

Have it . And glad they change to rent to own. Like the synth. I was gonna keep it as a sub , but this is better. I already do NI,PLAYMAGNETIC,VIRAL,BITWIG, uvi for some stuff as I've bought just about everything from uvi

the synthesizer is great of course, but those bass sounds were already fully exposed and boring five years ago. Time to start looking for something new

Did you get MPE working in Bitwig? I can't seem to figure out how to get Current to respond to Micro Pitch Expressions.....

WHY are the envelope and LFO window so damn small? Haven't you seen what's about to drop with U-he Zebralette 3?! Couldn't they have made them expandable for easier editing? How could you make a new synth with such crappy, fiddly little envelopes!
