What are the real benefits of tokenization and how can a business owner leverage it? It is often unclear how security token offering is different from IPO or equity crowdfunding.

Security Token Offering became popular thanks to Instructions added to the token's code that can automate a number of processes, including dividend payments and shareholder voting, leading to a significant reduction in governance and issuance costs. In STO, a crypto token is issued to investors in exchange for their funds, it can be called "digitized securities".

Talking about Initial Public Offering (IPO), it has some significant drawbacks: too many intermediaries between the investor and the company issuing the stock; high costs; time-consuming; currency exchange fees and AML/KYC requirements may prevent overseas investors from participating; smaller retail investors are unable to participate - only wealthy or accredited investors are eligible.

Comparing STO and crowdfunding, STOs are smart contracts that can be traded on decentralized exchanges with no third party and there is a secondary market which provides liquidity before exit. Equity crowdfunding is a small percent of the total crowdfunding market, it is considered to be an extremely risky investment method, most investments are in shares or debt securities in start-up companies.

Via building a strong capital structure, it is possible to use tokenization platforms to pay for shares in a private limited company using cryptocurrencies and digital assets like BTC, Cardano ADA, Ripple (XRP), Litecoin, Dogecoin, Stellar (XLM), and other top altcoins.
