Social media is partly to be blamed for causing FOMO among the younger artists and probably some of those experienced artists as well but at the same time, its also partly ourselves to be blamed too because we let those external setbacks and unrealistic expactations towards ourselves.

I learned this when I got a job as a 3D artist, when I realized I can't rush texturing/rigging/animating, then when I get home and simply sit down to draw I feel very at peace and taking my time to enjoy drawing

Skilled artists often make the survivor's mistake, thinking their way that had, say, 10% bumps, was a tough journey. You need to know who failed to see the real picture. So a child start drawing when 10 years old, in 6 years it's a professional. We say the artist is talented and lucky. Then a person tries to start being 18 years old and spends 10 years to reach the same level. They say "see, anything is possible if you work hard". They are blind to the fact these people alone prove there are different speeds of learning. And then someone else starts drawing being 10 years old and by 50 can't reach any minimal level. Most would be too ashamed to talk about it. Some mention that and people discard their opinion as it doesn't matter to the successful ones. But many other newbies should know they may never reach a good level. If you just said "lies, anyone can do that" you either reached the level easier or just full of blind optimism. Either way, you're avoiding the truth because you never faced it and will never have to deal with it.

Michaelangelo once said that if someone were to ask him how detailed and great his paintings and sculptures were he would probably say
"They dont really know how hard it was for me to work on them".
