What I don't like about this scene is that the plot concept is rushed - So Jerry wants him working at a think tank; Sean's not opposed, just thinks he needs more time. They're arguing about whether Will is going to have the high-flying career he is capable of, when the real question is when that's going to happen.

Will is spending time with retarded gorillas. Professor Lambau is twisting his moustache. And Sean has a fantastic view on life and he never has to get to anyone

If I had to guess they knew about him and probably put him up to all the things he did to see how well they could control people.
Sure they are still up to it.

Great movie scene.
All did a good job of pulling the audience right in to the moment and both of their concerns.
