It looks like a random wild 80's tech device out of Kung Fury.
Ответитьin comparison to KP3 still the best? Just asking .....
ОтветитьKP-Quad is the best of the forgotten KP versions. You can just use it like a FX pedal with wet/dry or with enough (read: lightning speed) dexterity manipulate the loop/reverse loop functions to create track remixes or synth like tones.
ОтветитьMmmmm
Gets real interesting after 9 mins😮
I do have a love hate relationship with my kp3 and kaoss pro plus.
Superb sounds n fx BUT i find the midi clock implementation and sample loop drift COMPLETELY annoying. Wish they’d fixed that.
Jb xx
Perhaps it has nicer filters than the KP3? The filters on the 3 left me cold 🥶
ОтветитьI had the original, but I didn't personally get into it much. I sold it. A friend of the time was doing cool filtered vocals with it, but I think I realized I didn't need it to do that sort of thing. But then in around 2007 or so while I was living in Los Angeles, someone game me a gift card to the Best Buy retail chain, and I bought a Mini-KP and still have it, though it mostly sits around collecting dust. Some Best Buy stores in Los Angeles try to compete with Guitar Center and Sam Ash and offer musical instruments...like guitars, drums, basses, pedals, amps, synths, and etc..
Ответитьseems pretty pointless.
ОтветитьI like that Korg put an XY pad in the newer Electribes, eventhough it's a bit small and fiddly compared to this (and the E2 not being the most intuitive instrument). Might pick one of these up as they are pretty affordable at the moment, and looks fun for experimenting :)
ОтветитьNice thing and fun design.
ОтветитьI want one KP to do live acoustic drumming with crazy effects, which one would you recommend ¿
ОтветитьGreat demo!
ОтветитьI just bought one of these again today really cheap and was seeing if anyone else had any love for the KP2 and I'm glad to find someone. I used to have one years ago and for a while, I put every instrument and noise producing machine I had through it. It's very good for guitar. It has some unusual modulation effects that sound pleasing. The vocoder programmes are good fun, I managed to do a passable impression of Stephen Hawking. I gave my old one away a long time ago but then saw one today going for the price of a Korg Monotron and had to bring it home. If I'm honest, I think it looks cool too.
Ответитьwhere can i get the kp2
ОтветитьI still use it sometimes to run my turntable through it for sampling and chopping, can add some really cool effects to samples, mangle them and chop them beyond recognition of the original sample, great way to not have to clear copyrights 😂 has a decent phono preamp on it too in case you don't have one for your turntable.
ОтветитьI wonder if the thing is suitable for live looping vocals. Should i try it or should i go straight for kp3?
ОтветитьThanks for this video. I recently purchased it but havent been able to use it yet. I mean to use it with ableton live to put some cool wacky sounds into my productions. How would you advice to connect this? Through audio cables or somehow use the midi?
(Im a bit new to hardware)
Hope you can find the time to respond. Anyways have a good one!
This is a Kaosspad, right? I thought the Kaossilator is another device than a Kaosspad....more of a synthesizer. I have the KP2, but i want to get a Kaossilator Pro+.
ОтветитьA good KP2 demo, but the comparison? Why is the best?
Ответитьlove this video. Subscribed:)
ОтветитьDoes this work as a Pitch Bend Modulation controller for SV1?
ОтветитьHey thanks for the review! I hadn’t really considered this model until I watched this. After looking for a while, I found one for under $40. Totally worth it! Such a fun little effects unit (synth? gadget? toy? whatever!)
ОтветитьMy fav stereo line effects unit. The KP3's and the KP-Mini's effects were too sterile for me to like, the Digitizer is also more precise on this. The Korg AX1500 and Electribe 1 share the same meaty, sound. So good for experimenting, it turns your workflow into a painting session.
Ответить$40 thats a steal i bought one for about $150 about 20 years ago
ОтветитьI think mike patton has used this kaoss pad for decades
ОтветитьNice vid, but don’t forget the FX Depth! Best controller on the unit.
ОтветитьWould you see if you can use a ballpoint pen as a stylus? I had an early Kaossilator and used to put post it notes on the touchpad and I could plot my tunes. I then got a newer one that wouldn't work with a pen. Thanks!
ОтветитьNOW I OWN A 200O KP2 AND 2000 HONDA CRV ;)
Ответитьmy setup from 2006-2010 had a KP 2 in it. I had a vestax 05 III, 2 technics and a KP 2 till i upgraded my mixer for a ttm 56 before switching to the pioneer djm 909 and getting rid of my KP.
ОтветитьI've had mine since they came out way back, but always the phono input seems bugged, was always boxy and distorted when pushed, so only used the line through most times, actually rigging it up this week in a drummachine turntables synth and DAW and outboard mixer setup, cheers for this refresher even in 2023
ОтветитьKP2 owner here, and come to think of it, i figured if it was good enough for Greenwood of Radiohead, it was good enough for me. Little did I know what this thing was capable of and I came to seek some videos where someone figured out something new and exciting with this old piece.
What i found on my own explorations is the wonderful thing it can do with the MicroKorg analog modeling synth. It adds more depth to the modulation and can act as a cool controller for it. Definitely worth the connection.
My favorite patches on the KP2 are the runaway delay with it's wavering trails of delayed sounds with the ability to regenerate and overload which is what i like to play with. The "aqua" sound which is a modulation effect mixed with a pitch-shift-delay effect to give a "liquidy" sound to any incoming signal. The flange-drone synth effect sound is another neat one that I like to frequent to get some weird machine-like-spacey tones into a mix, and was surprised to even hear it in a track by Twilight Dub Circus if i recall that correctly. The vocoders are completely the funnest thing you can mess with on this and plug it into more effects (As many as you can) and you are gonna have a blast. There are plenty more that are useful, but as I saw in this video, not all great, and not completely useful. I feel this was meant for a DJ with some LPs and some quick and cool effects, this thing would shine well, but anything else, it just isn't going to be the best thing for every situation.
How I used it on stage: One of the cooler and underrated patches is the reverser. The effect is not like any other and is very simple to use. I plugged in my guitar into the Korg Pandora box multiFX thingie, and split it's signal (it's in stereo too) in two places: 1 to the Kaoss pad, and the other to my ME-50, and fed the Kaoss pad back into the ME-50's aux input so that could feed more pedals or just feed the amp, essentially having parallel processing. So What I would end up doing is at some point, I'd have a guitar solo and mute the ME-50 and turn on the Kaoss pad for the reverser and it was trip-out time! Loads of fun!
What I was hoping for in this video was to see if there was anything I was missing, like can my midi keyboard play the Kaoss pad? is there ways to mutate the patches more? What happens if you plug 2 together? I hope someone tried this. Peace.
For me it is the KP2, the best Kaoss instrument
ОтветитьDo you like it more than the kp3?
ОтветитьCan you hook it up to a midi controller keyboard that has no X-Y joystick or controller and use this to control X-Y capable vsts?
ОтветитьEeee man I understand you) I prefer Kaossilator 1 to every kaosilators
ОтветитьConsidering picking one of these up used, great demo to aid in the decision!
ОтветитьI bought one, just for preset 81 though, im a Muse fan
