thanks to you, dipshit, people are even MORE confused about the naming convention. you have turbo nerds out there quoting this video and saying "DLSS3 HAS NEW UPSCALING!!!"

you have single handedly unleashed a thousand "well ackshually" freaks into the gaming zeitgeist.

I don't care if it says "DLSS 3.1.dll" - it's DLSS2 upscaling.

Hi. It will be so nice of you to help me with this, I'm deciding to buy a Lenovo legion Laptop however i don't really know which model to choose?
.
✅️ Whether 2022 Lenovo legion 5i pro with i7 12700h and RTX 3070 or 2023 Lenovo legion pro 5i with i7 13700hx and RTX 4070; considering the fact that the 2023 model is quite more expensive which one you recommend?
.
✅️ In terms of hardware specifications, I think RTX 3070 is better, for example, it has a memory bus width of 256 bits, while RTX 4070 is 128 bits, and I think the number of Cuda and Tensor cores are the same with 3070, and these are not much different, and even the 30 series may be better.
.
✅️ I may occasionally play video games, but I also have heavy engineering software that requires a powerful CPU and GPU.
.
✅️ Another question is that will the DLSS 3 and upcoming updates come for RTX 3070 or not? What do you think?
.
✅️ Also, i've heard about a new feature called Frame Generation or FG is also provided in RTX series 40 and it seems that it is only for this series 40 and does not include the previous series, is that right?
.
✅️ And is it true about FG that unlike DLSS it is not sensitive to the CPU Bottleneck issue?
In many games, the FG option is available by default and can be turned on.
.
✅️ So does FG really work and give a higher FPS experience, or are the rumors about it true that it is not of good quality?
(It is said that DLSS cannot work properly if you have a CPU bottleneck, right?)
.
Which model should i buy from these two laptops, so that it has good power and enough FPS in running games that would be enough for the next few years and could perform well in heavy engineering softwares?
.
I apologize for my long comment,
Thank you very much. 🙏

I was really hoping Nvidia had unlocked DLSS 3 for older RTX cards now...

The video title is misleadig. DLSS3 is not supported by RTX 2000 and 3000.
3.5 is supported partially.

But who cares if FSR 3 does frame generation as well, right?
An open standard will always win.

DL Ray Reconstruction only works with Path Tracing ON. If only Ray Tracing ON, but Path Tracing OFF, DL Ray Reconstruction doesn´t work in Cyberpunk 2077.

It should also work on GTX 10 series GPUS. The fact it does not is just Nvidia forcing you to upgrade.. Since FSR 2.0 works for me in RDR2 and boosts performance.

Y'know, I have an RTX 3070 and I was kinda stoked about this whole "ray recasting" bullshit. I watched all the videos and the side by sides about the ghosting and the artifacts and this and that.

I kinda wish I hadn't watched any of that.

I just tried out Cyberpunk with the newest update and now all I can see is how this new feature didn't help at all. I see the figures in the distance ghosting all over the place. I see the walls jittering and everything looks like a pile of muddy shit.

One would think, well, maybe you didn't update.

Well, son, yes I did. I just installed the latest Nvidia drivers and I also made damn sure I had that "ray recasting" button clicked.

It's shit. It's not nearly as pretty as they want you to think it is.

I'd hate to think what it looked like before I watched those videos and I wasn't pixel peeping as much.

If this is the "future", count me out.

Good question is why frame generation is exclusive to 4000 series. As if they couldn't make it so, that it works for older graphics cards. I can't believe it is a technological issue, but more or less smells like tailor-made marketing bs.

Ответить
Bliksem
Bliksem - 21.09.2023 06:08

I think the reason for the version numbers is to try and tell people that the supersampling feature has also been improved with the new version, but there are also new features included with the update that you may or may not be able to use. Idk my interpretation is that there are supersampling versions 1, 2, 3 and 3.5, there are frame gen versions 3 and 3.5, and in 3.5 there is the new feature of ray reconstruction. Of course it would be better if they used different acronyms, like DLSS, DLSS 2, DLSS 3, DLSS 3.5, DLFG 3, DLFG 3.5, and DLRR, but once you show people a chart that's too big they don't even bother looking at it so we're stuck with what they've shown us. Also using 3.5 to denote a new major update is just braindead imo, it should be 4. Any number after the point should be reserved for minor patches released like for small things like bug fixing while the major releases and upgrades should get their own main number. Regardless, naming them separately would've been best, and then they just announce when they're releasing major version changes and what the benefits are with the version changes.

Even If I have an Nvidia 2060, I should always download the latest DLSS and replace it in my game files to get better performance?
So the new DLSS 3.5.0 would be better than DLSS 2.5.1 even for my 2060?

I call bullshit to Nvidia on this, a company that has a history of disabling features purely though the driver code. An example is 3D vision, they dropped official support out of the drivers on 3k release so we hacked it back in, so out of spite they went in a few driver updates later and just gutted the code out of the driver. But they didn't even do that properly because it still works for vulkan and dx9 games on all cards including 4k series they just purposely disabled it for dx11 because they knew thats what the majority of games run... Absolutely garbage company.

Just a word on super resolution: we can say that there are spatial super resolution AND temporal super resolution. Therefore DLSS is not wrong. With DLSS 3 you've got spatial and temporal super resolution knowing that temporal one is only accessible to RTX 40xx.

I opted for a 3070 and Ryzen 7 5800X and built around that, coming up to about 1.2k. Just for the 40 series to come out a few months later. Overall still satisfied with the build. Just wish I did a bit more research first.
