How to become self employed in the UK

My sole income is from eBay. Do I need to save every single purchase I make or can I just save my monthly income from there into excel? Ie Aug Made £2,00, £1,000 is profit.

Like you, I want to get involved and do a percentage of the grunt-work, order and manage trades and buy instead of all trades doing that and the taking a % for it. Thank you for your help, my mind is completely scrambled trying to sort all of this out so I am sorry for the questions! I have been hired by a company but on a self employed basis as an entertainer, does this class as sole trader? Also as I am just starting, I don't have an income yet but I do have money that I need to spend on it before starting. As I have expenses before registering, will I still be able to claim these when I have earned enough to register?

Hi, my partner has a business ready to go, but struggling to find a name, he worries because he really wants to export abroad aswell as being a UK business. He can't find a business name, as all the ones he tried are taken, can a 4 word phrase be ok to use? he's looking at all ideas as quite alot of people in UK and globally have his name sadly, as he would have used that. I have already bought a van and tools to start a mobile mechanics business
(have yet to properly start it up as I don’t want to have to be insured on a van if I can’t drive it yet)
if the customer pays for the parts and keeps the receipt and pays me separately how would that affect tax ? As I’m still struggling to understand how I would do a tax refund and in my area can guarantee most of my work will be cash in hand and how would I tax that ?
Can I do a tax refund for fuel expenses getting to the customer ?
Can I tax return the receipts on tools I’ve had to purchase to start my business ?

I've lived in the UK for almost 4 years, but am probably looking to move back abroad in 2 years.
That means I've got 4 years left to be eligible for state pension. Are you saying I can voluntarily pay those £148 a year to make myself eligible?
