Karcher K5 Premium full control - The best pressure washer around?

Why does no one mention the cheap and frustrating Karcher bayonet interlock system for swapping out attachments, just took off main lance yellow insert left on trigger. Removed with long nose pliers, fitted karcher foam gun leaks from interlock and yet another yellow nozzle left in the trigger wish Karcher would sort out bayonet fitting. Have loads of attachments but hate to change them as you don’t know if they are going to disconnect or connect correctly. Complained to Karcher’s who sent a pack of yellow inserts with a range of o-rings with unintelligible diagrammatic instructions.

I just threw my Karcher in the trash! So many problems:

A: The small "Smart Control" remote on the handle that allows you to control the power runs on batteries! Of course, when you need the Karcher, the batteries are dead and the machine only gives you a quarter of its power.

B: After changing the batteries, the remote doesn't recognize the Karcher (a synchronization problem perhaps?) Result: you only get a quarter of the power.

C: The on-off rotary button works randomly, as if there is a bad connection. You have to shake or tap the Karcher on the ground to unblock the connection.

D: By hitting the Karcher on the ground repeatedly, I ended up breaking a wheel (I have to admit I was a little frustrated!)

E: When changing tools (foam cannon or lance...), there is a small yellow piece (spacer) that holds a seal. It's located on the tool itself and seals the connection between the tool and the lance. Well, this piece constantly falls out and worst of all, it gets stuck at the bottom of the lance, making it nearly impossible to remove. I bought a new "seals/spacer" kit for 20€ (still!!), but the problem persists.

This machine drove me crazy, even though I'm generally a calm person. Furious, I took the Karcher and smashed it on the ground. Then I picked up the pieces with a dustpan and broom.

I ended up buying a Stihl RE272 instead. Of course, it's not the same budget, but this machine works amazingly well, and I realized that the hydraulic hose is of much better quality. With Karcher, it's a real pain to wind or unwind the hose. With Stihl, it's a real pleasure.

Sometimes, it's better to spend more money than to throw it away.

I have 5 lances and hoses salvaged over the years from crashed Karcher pressure washers.
The last was a £500 K7 full control that, despite very light domestic use, terminally failed just weeks after the warranty finished.
The hose reel had failed after just a few months from new, but as it was very clumsy I removed it and threw it away.
All poorly made and over priced.
I now have a Hyundai petrol powered machine. Cheaper than a K7 and much, much better.

I wrongly bought the Full Control instead of the Premium Control. After a few months I wanted to upgrade the hose management but seems like I can't find this part sold seperate anywhere, anyone with some pointers?

Sorry, the kärcher and nilfisk consumer-series are not very good. They sell by flashy gadgets and slick design in supermarkets with help on there old good reputation from when they still made good machines. They still make good machines though (like the kärcher HD-series) but you won´t be able to buy them in the supermaket. The problem is poor quality, ranging from terrrible to bad. Plastic everywhere. Wouldn´t be suprised if the motor where plastic as well (I know they aren´t but one may think that by how short lifespan some models have)

My k5 dyed in 3 months after 10 car washes. And the waranty service in my country sucks . Was repaired but when they put in the box wrong and sended to me came with another problem... I selled it at half price and now I will buy a bosch one....

This pressure washer is pointless. I tested one a while ago thinking that the water pressure was controlled by a control panel on the handle of the lance. all it does is display the current water pressure after you have changed the dial on either the vario lance or the T-Racer patio cleaner. The standard K5 has the same motor and is a lot cheaper.

Using a shitty house from the UK with that old shitty concrete and gravel work is not the right example to use for a pressure washer. SMH. This 500psi thing is a piece of shit.

I got three months out of my k5 premium then as with all my previous Karchers it died but then I got a Kranzle K7 and the difference in high quality a power is far superior I just wish I got a Kranzle washer sooner. If you want the best and can afford it then buy a Kranzle it will last for years ang you will be quids in

Bought a K5 and it was defective. Karcher support is a lie. They have only a call center.
Save yourself a lot of trouble and purchase some other brand. Karcher is spelled TROUBLE.

they started to manufacturing them in turkey and now they are full of plastic. i had one k5 and i had a lot of problems because the plastic components crack down very easy. now i use a lavor vertigo 28 plus and is excelent. all the important components are made of bras.

Had to dislike for crocs.

Do you HAVE TO use the bottle of cleaning fluid supplied? Will the unit work if you use another make? Can you just pour any make of cleaning liquid on this?

Very useful video, i have just bought one and on setting up i found the screws for the handle are ineffective and just pull straight out of the extendable rods does any one have any idea how to solve this problem? Thanks

I ordered one from Walmart (I live in the USA). When we took it out of the box, there was a little plastic-covered screw in the box. There was no mention of it in the instructions to put it together. After it was assembled, I discovered this screw was shrouded in plastic because it had broken off from the back at the bottom, where the two bits of the machine are held together. It looks like the machine (or mayeb a person) had screwed the screw in so tight that it had sheared off the internal bit that the screw goes into to. So it was returned. I'm still deciding if I want another one or not.

I'm interested in the HOSE REEL assembly shown at the beginning of this video. Can anyone tell me what make/model of hose assembly and hose this is? I assume it may be a european model as I have not seen anything similar in the USA where I live. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hei, I bouth this but when I get it It was dammage in plastic so I send It back. Nexst one loooks good but when I begin to Wash water goright in to air. Littel metall pice whoo hold this rubber slange to machine was not there. So 2 New Karcher K5 full controll With somthing wrong. Therfore 3 time I order this Nilfisk-ALTO E 145.3-10 H X-TRA! I got It yesterday and Its fantastic. Nilfisk use metall In their pomp! Bouth same price and take up to 500 liter water a houer With up to 145 Bar. I had a Karcher k2 before whoo work great. I think I was very unlucky whoo get 2 New Karcher With somthing wrong.

What is the pump made out of? I used to be a Karcher fields service tech and pumps were either aluminium or brass then. From my experience give the aluminium ones a wide berth.

I like the look of the disc attachement thing...how well will it work on patches where my van has "marked it's territory"?!
