Yeah. Americans are always saying “this is normal, that’s how you do it,” which seems “normal,” until you remember what a pathological culture, people, and market America is.

"How many guard rails and protections do we need to put up in society for people that don't have any self control to avoid them ruining their own lives" This is a reasonable question, but if Asmongold actually felt this way, he wouldn't be so opposed to adults having the right to gamble

Saying the problem is not the drive thrus (or basically the fast food in general) because we have them in other countries, and we don't have the same obesity rate is literally a take only an American would have. The reason other countries are not as obese while also having fast food is because they are not as addicting and food is basically unregulated, they could be putting cocaine in the McDonald burgers if they wanted and no one would care. A lot of the ingredients that American fast food companies use in their recipes are literally illegal in Europe, I think you can imagine why. For fuck's sake, subway bread is not even considered bread in countries like Ireland for the stupid amount of sugar it has.
Americans are so used to the shitty food they have over there that they don't realize how different it is outside their bubble

I would have to say that as much as I love McDonald’s, the take of the double drive through is the worse take ever.

You know what I hear when I hear double drive through? More waiting and impatient customers, still the same amount of workers. The double drive through works when you had an adequate amount of stations and workers at those stations to take in the bigger amount of customers.

Bit of you are in a smaller town like me who thought it was cool to add a double drive through but not more people dealing with the payment and food at the drive through, all it does is just take twice as long to get your food.

I remember it almost took 40 minutes out of my hour lunch break to get my food and I couldn’t just leave and go somewhere else because I was trapped in between a car in front of me and one behind me…

I like the digital menus WAY better also for exactly the reasons you said. The prices will go up the same way whether it's a plastic or paper menu or a digital one. I'd rather have the prettier, nicer and easier to read digital one over any of the old school ones.

What convinces people to eat fast food is not some dark, scientific method. Its the desire to eat tasty food without having to spend an hour cooking.

Hm I eat maybe once a month at MacDonalds maybe less, it tastes good but it doesn't fill you up long-term, after 2-3 hours I'm hungry again because it's not nutritious so I can understand why people get fat eating fast food all the time... Most people I know go once a month or less to eat fast food, older generations maybe once a year or have even never been at a Mac ever although we have drive throughs and for the price of one meal I can cook a decent dinner for my whole family so it's even less desirable for me tbh 😅 greetings from Germany 😊

McDonalds has the best drive through... but they also have the worst inside service. I feel like the reason I go to a drive through now is only because I have to to get reasonably good service, but I end up eating in the parking lot anyway bc I don't eat and drive and hate my food getting cold, for me, drive throughs are more inconvenient to my lifestyle, I'm not even driving most of the time now because why would I need to go far in a world where I can have everything brought to me and have more time?

The worst is at Chick Fil A where they have those people waiting with tablets before you even get in view of the menu. They expect you to already know what you want and gamble that you’re not one of those few first-time customers who will have no clue what is going on.

I love how Asmon, amongE so many other people, has no concept of lack of self-control. It's easy to say "just quit being a [female dog] 4Head" and move on with the conversation. My question is, HOW does one do that? It's a really privileged thing to say, like saying "if you're homeless, just get a house 4Head" or "if you feel no hope and want to commit [Alt+F4 IRL], just be happE - it's really easy 4Head". Some people lack self-control, WHAT do they DO in that case? It's not like you could switch on your rational brain in these situations and think whether you have to do it or not. Compulsive eating, drinking, substance abuse, viewing [adult content], and so much more - these are all quite serious problems that may lead to physical and mental issues beyond anything reasonable. HOW do you control yourself? Is there like a decent way to learn how to do that, or is it just AA 12 steps bull[faeces]? Please clarify

Stop eating fast food in general did help me to lose 60 pounds. It has nothing to do with drive throughs, but all with stop eating crap food, stop drinking sugared drinks and start going into the gym.

People overestimate the power of self control. For well over a decade, I was 500 pounds and going up. I got diagnosed with depression, ADHD, and autism at age 25; got medicated for the depression and ADHD; dropped 300 pounds in 3 years. It's not "self control", it's being a victim of manipulation.

Everybody acting like this is as black and white as not having enough self-control contribute to this problem. 100% of the people saying that has fallen prey to one of these manipulative practices. You have to be vigilant in life but to pervert that and turn it into 100% of the instances where you're manipulated are your fault is just wildly reckless and disingenuine.

well, the thing is that in other countries there are other tastier options of fast food, for example here at LA, street fast food gets crazy levels of layering and tastes, while franchise fast food in most cases is seen as flavorless or simple, (except for certain brands, like the ones that do chicken), in South America in general, Venezuelan/Colombian style hot dogs/burguers/local fast food are much more popular than franchise food and more affordable

You know why they actually have a digital menu? It's so you can see ice cream dripping off the side of the cone. You can see the sweat on the side of an iced coffee cup dripping. You can see heat coming off the food. You become tempted to impulsively buy the products.
I think mistakes are a marketing strategy. Think about how much money mcdonalds gains if they give you medium fries when you ordered large and the worst that will happen is you go back and they say "oops sorry!" and they fix it. But for all of the people who leave and go home then find out and they are not going all the way back gains them so much money. I've seen them screw up and give me small when I order large but they never fuck it up the other way around and give me more if I order less. So this has me wondering if it's deliberate because they make millions off ripping people off if every store does this even just a few times a day.
