When I was younger and saw this for the first time with little knowledge of Dead Space, let alone the context here, I thought these were two different death scenes. I thought Nicole was a zombie who screamed at her victim (Isaac, in this case) before blowing the fuck up.
I don’t even know what younger me was thinking when it came to why Isaac impaled himself with the javelin.
I know now the context, that Nicole here is a mental apparition who represents the will of the Marker and that her “blowing up” is really the Marker taking complete control of Isaac (who then impales himself so the Marker can complete the Convergence to form a Brethren Moon), but when I was a kid? I didn’t know, I barely heard of Dead Space.

you know whats the worst part of this death? is that probably isnt even a quick one. by the looks of the postion of the javaline, it doesnt seem to have pierce the brain of isaac. it only went throug the front of his skull so isaac is probably bleeding to death

Ah yes, 9 year old me tried to do the tried and true method of rushing up and melee the enemy. I wanted to quit playing the game right then and there (as usual in that play through) but my dad thankfully encouraged me to finish it (as usual in that play through)
