Hey there!! I've been living in Tripoli for over 14 years, and I have to say don't worry so much about the tourist police. Libyans care deeply about foreigners and would be horrified if any foreigner got harmed while in the country, so the police presence is genuinely for your own safety. Now that tourist visas are bring issued again (since last April in fact) they've stepped up the tourist police even more. A trip that I take my students on to Leptis Magna every year, suddenly needed an escort to and from the site by tourist police. Something new. But they were really friendly and did not stop us taking any photos or videos - even asking us to photograph them at the end!! ❤❤❤
