Im happy that you talked about DNS because you're absolutely correct. DNS is going to try and resolve which ever way it can, if you're changing your connection route to the Internet over a proxy and DNS isn't being filtered correctly, you can end up reaching out to a malicious site without realizing it. How about using a socks5 through a vpn login? I'm looking for something to use on 1 specific program on my pc but not mess with everything else like the vpn software seemed to be doing on occasion.

One thing maybe wrong, proxy will not leak dns related things, normally there's no need to launch dns query when you use proxy. Proxy will do it for you.

TLDR privacy is better on vpns but proxys are free and can bypass some network blocks

Do y’all recommend a vpn over a proxy for SoMe activity? I’ve heard that residential proxies are the best for avoiding banning. Hearing that if sites like FB see a VPN they will ban Acct/profile. Hogwash? I’m wanting to connect to distinct local SoMe profiles for interaction, etc. Thx!

When VPNs first hit the scene, encryption wasn't the main purpose. Back then they were usually hosted by a third party and were often half way across the world. People would buy multiples, just so they could be "truly anonymous." In other words, it was before we all realized that that doesn't exist. We had switcher software configured to switch connections every 30-60 minutes.. this was right around the time that TOR was at the peak of its popularity.

what happens when my network has a VPN at the dmark, and my browser or app is using proxy (first what happens with the not encrypted proxy / then what happens with the encrypted proxy)? so would it be double ? or is the VPN cut out

Why proxy is better then vpn ! On vpn if someone ban your ISP you can’t acces any more server .. BUT OLD IS GOLD with proxy you can do what you want if they ban your ip in next 2 seconds you can change it sow.. today with all data colectors from google better option is Proxy
