Just got a Ninja blender this X-Mas and need to figure out something like this. Tried it once and it was PAINFULLY loud.

Don’t blenders come with silent mode?

It's actually not that difficult but must just don't bother to make the effort... Having said that I'm surprised Vitamix hasn't made an enclosure accessory...

I have a fabric cover, like that of a oven mitt for a tea pot. I then wrap the grinder with a terry cloth towel and put the tea pot warmer over top of the wrap, then grind away. I am searching today to see what others have done. I find automotive acoustic sound barriers a bit pricey though, I must say, yet I am in Canada in a remote area.

the (dynamat) sound deadener is not necessary (in theory as you are using it). The box is not technically not vibrating/resonating. Closed cell foam (the blue squares) and mass loaded vinyl are better noise blockers. If you put the sounder deadener on the body of each device, that could reduce the resonance/vibration noise plus using your box cover. You can also try the white insulation foam (Styrofoam) from a home improvement store or the (dense) green project foam. Also chopped denim mat is also good at reducing/blocking noise. Have you tried a thick shower/beach towel??

Thank you for the video.
It amaze me how different people think of the same ideas.
I made a box like that specifically for the coffee grinder using cardboard box and carpet padding after fiddling with different options I found the most effective way to reduce the decibel was a large towel folded and wrapped around the machine.

in the NAVY they had slightly more professionally made booths like that in the engine room with a phone in it, you lean your head into the booth just like you did with that box to talk on the phone. open front and it still made a huge difference for background noise in the engine room.

best pic I can find online, is from Alamy "RM RTBK92", odd arched shaped thing on the right with the expanded steel screening inside the thing. that's a desk like thing for making notes on with sound dampened sides and top, and there was a phone in there for talking to other parts of the ship.

Great video. What I did: on the counter I put a silicone hot pad,a folded towel on top of that, and a cutting board on top of that as the base for the blender (kills vibration to countertop). Then I used two insulated grocery shopping bags (about 10 bucks for two on Amazon) which I doubled-up by putting one inside the other. Then I put this double bag liner inside a cardboard box, and turned the bag-lined box upside- down over my Ninja bullet blender. Works great, and no apartment noise violations for early morning smoothies.

I did something similar using corrugated plastic to make a hexagon around a super sized nutribullet rx that is the loudest (and most powerful) blender I've ever heard. Because the nutribullet doesn't have buttons, it's just barely bigger than the blender and stays on it all the time with a removable lid which works well for that style of blender.

I do like your approach as it isolates the base from the counter - granite counter with suction feet on and a heavy blender still vibrates the counter enough to make some noise. I think the car insulation would do a great job dampening that and I might have to make an addition to mine!

Thanks for sharing!!!!

If I use a 20x20x20” box will the supplies dimensions in the Amazon link be enough?

Sorry just started the video but if you grind shit the night before then tomorrow you can sneak around. Just saying. And also if your too loud in the morning and killing it. Then your partner or/roommate can F*ck off👍

Great video and exactly what I was looking for. Subscribed. I just bought a high-end vacuum blender with a motor as powerful as a lawn mower and it's so noisy that must wait until everyone in the house is awake before I can have breakfast. I knew I had to build some kind of foldable sound dampening box for the thing but wondered about materials. Will get started right away. Thanks!

Nice man! Great idea. Would like to see this except in a less flimsy setup. Not saying it's bad, I'm saying with a bit more refinement it would actually be something marketable, you know?.

That was a good amount of noise reduction! I wonder how it compares to commercially available enclosures which seem to be mostly acrylic and very pricey. My intuition is that your car mat and foam box would be better.

Pretty cool reusing cardboard boxes to do that, I used a corrugated plastic archive box and lined it with the 20mm yoga mat an ex girlfriend left behind 🤣 dropped the noise of a blender a lot, barely knew it was operating 5-10 feet away but before you could hear it a couple doors away 😲
