Comparing 5 Generations of Intel i7 Processors! 12700K vs 11700K vs 10700K vs 9700K vs 8700K

Does anyone know if the cyberpunk 2.0 patch utilizes more cpu now? I just upgraded from an 8700k to 12700k. Just need waiting for motherboard to put together.

Would you say, that pairing the 9700K with the 4070 @ 1440p would make sense and not bottleneck the card?

This video made me realize my i7 8700k is still good for my 3070 ti at 1440p resolution. To be honest the low % fps are way more important when benchmarking cpu's

Currently building an entry gaming PC for a friend with the i7-8700K and honestly its still a great choice if you're trying to get into PC gaming.
My gaming laptop still uses the i7-8750H and pretty much runs every game at 60fps just fine.
A great option since they are going as long as $100 on ebay right now with some LGA1151 boards as low as $50.

Since I play at 3440x1440, my margins should be even closer than what you present for regular 1440p - I'm comfortable losing 10-15 fps with my 8700k.
At these speeds, what even is an extra 10 fps?

Watching this for an upgrade, still rocking the 8700k at 5ghz from 2017 build. Playing on 1440p at 165hz I think my Gtx 1080ti OC would be replaced with the rtx 4070. Not necessarily do I have to upgrade my cpu because 99% on the time I’m just gaming.

I got an 11700k after 12th gen came out because I already had a z490 motherboard and it cost less than a 10700k at the time

I have a i7 10700k and im thinking of getting a new gpu most likely 4070ti or 4080 depending on how much I want to spend xd (I currently have a 1660s). I dont know if its worth upgrading cpu considering I would have to get new motherboard and ram aswell.

I have a Razer blade 15 i7 9750 and I love it. played any games I wanted, it gets really hot after a lot of hours of gaming but it does the job.

This is an awesome video, thank you for posting this. It's especially interesting for me as I have an i7-8700k paired with a GTX 1080ti (an awesome pairing back in the day, and still performs quite well). I've been thinking of upgrading, but not sure if I need to upgrade just the GPU or both GPU and CPU. It totally makes sense to upgrade the CPU if you do a lot of video editing etc, but it's not so clear cut for gaming. At 1440 it looks like the 3090 is the bottleneck in this case, regardless of the CPU, and 1440 is what most people seem to use these days. But, for gaming at 1080 it might make sense to upgrade the CPU also, especially if you have a high refresh rate monitor and want high frame rates.

12th gen and windows 11 have know issues with Adobe... almost nothing...

it would have been more interesting if you actually would have used the 8700k at frequencies most users will have them running at: 4.8 - 4.9GHz. And clocking every other CPU to the same speeds, the 8700K has a considerably lower multi core boost compared to especially the newer models but the newer ones also don't clock much higher than 4.9GHz on all cores if you OC them.

think my i7 8700k still ok when my goal is 95fps in 1440p. just need to upgrade my gpu and my 16gb ram to 32gb

my 10900k still smashes everything i throw at it with my 3080 in 1440p, workload wise also.
