First time i played dota is 2007 i think . Tha last time played was 2017 damn time flies i know the game has changed alot since but I hope one day I'll be able to play again. Will always love this game. The best game ever very hard game to master it really requires skills.

I played both (and more) League and DOta 1 and 2, yes it has a soul BUT IT ALSO FEELS LIKE AN OLD SOUL XD IT NEVER GETS THE LOVE IT NEEDS, it actually feels like they want this game death, but it still provides resources so its like a zombie living from NOSTALGIA and dota 2 Andys XD (and yup ive played MOBA games for about 15 games already)

I think the main difference that DOTA has from every other game in the same genre is that it's beginning was a game made by it's community and was a group project from various people trying to improve the game, it was a community of people who truly loved the game enough to make it better and share it. The entire community contributed for the same game they were passionate about and from there it was passed on to the next generation and so on. So to me I believe that from the very first Defense of the Ancients the game already had a soul made from it's original contributors and that's what makes it different DotA was game built from the collective though of many who truly appreciated the game and wanted to add something new, they built a game entirely from 2 already existing games.
DotA wasn't built and reconfigured by one team it was very open to change from rhe beginning and I think thats what makes it different from other games its origins and how the community is still open to make custom games inside it, unlike other games like League of Legends, HoN, etc... where you play what the devs make in DOTA you can make and share a custom game from the same resources but end up in an entirely different gameplay.
A good example for it is auto chess which is a game made by someone in the community and shared it, from there it turned into a huge hit to the poit that other mobas started to make games similar to it.

Riot games are soulless? I frankly only play TFT nowadays, but hell, they have such a dedicated dev team, probably the greatest lead dev currently in the business, Mortdog, and just released a bonkers set. Soulless is different to me.

I think the main difference is that dota2 has more complexity compared to league, which allows for variety and different playstyles. Lol even remove prowlers claw which I think is a great addition to the game, and as a start to add more items that will bring more fun and variety.

I think League has some soul, less and less as time goes on but Valorant on the other hand, now that game has no soul at all.

LoL success over Dota is the proof that the routine you can keep is the best routine for you.
I can't spend 1hr+ for a quality dota game but I can get that with League in 25-35 min (assume that day I was lucky).

It's just a trade off, Dota have much better game quality than LoL but also it demand your attention more. That why it's not working for many of us.
That's why we can't have nice things.

Our short attention span ruin our life.

i actually think that is the most basic and pretentious thing you can say about a game, is so ambiguous and usually it can be summarized on:
thing i like: has soul
thing i dislike: has no soul

this game has soul cuz it didnt turn into rainbow unicorn ethot game for 12yr olds. League had plenty of soul with as the older map, characters and soundtrack were more mysterious, dark and interesting than a mix of monster champs and egirl champs
