Oh the Cuno and Cunoesse analysis chef's kiss Cuno is my second fav character after Kim, deep beneath his drugs and slur usage he's very passionate! It sucks that Kim has to be shot to have Cuno travel with you. His rant to Jean is beautiful. Frustrated that the precinct won't believe Harry about the phasmid, he went off about how he was stuck in poverty so he can't never afford cool cameras like Kim. RCM was one of the few positive figure in his life, which is depressing but regardless he promised that he won't use slurs again if the precinct hire him. Loved Cuno ending so much!! I also liked the little details that hasn't been talked about much, like his fondness for Lilienne and his fear for Titus (perhaps because he reminded him of his dad :( )

Cunoesse deserved love too, she was found soaked in the closet and refused to come out or even say anything for days. I think there's a dark implication of what happened to her :( that's why she's so attached to Cuno

Love this game and this character analysis was great, this game lives rent free in my head a year after my first play through.

Only character I felt I took in differently was my take on Thiago. He just seemed like another ex addict that replaced his addiction with something like that of the pale drivers situation kinda like an AA (alcoholic anonymous).

A cool easter egg for the uncomfortable chair is that it seems to be inspired by a scene from It's a Wonderful Life where George Bailey goes to see Potter (the overweight bourgeois) and has to sit in a chair that makes him look comically small

Despite the fact that I liked the creation of ZA/UM (at least the ZA/UM that created Disco Elysium) and I understood that it was deeper than it is, although I could not fully realize and express it, and despite the fact that I went through it and returned several times, I cannot say that I have progressed to the neighboring shore after several attempts to complete the game again.
But your video has revealed more deeply my understanding of the events taking place in the world of the game. But more importantly, you made me think about myself more than once (not a bad start to the year)
During these almost three hours, I almost cried several times and several times found myself just staring at the monitor, no longer hearing anything, completely immersed in myself.
You rekindled the idea in me to start writing something. The idea that flares up and goes out several times a day and who knows, maybe it will fade out again by the time I finish this comment.
And despite the fact that several of your phrases expressed and reflected more meaning in me than I will ever be able to write in my pathetic attempts to express at least some kind of holistic thought (as I am doing now)
But I will try. Not only because the very idea of expressing at least a little of my thoughts through text, in order to let them be read and give, if not temporary confidence in a better future, then at least a smile, at the same time scares me with the thought that I will not be able to express it, but excites me so much that I cannot sleep.
Maybe it's because for today's me in my early twenties, the idea of creating at least something distracts me enough not to pay attention to how empty and repetitive my life is, but it doesn't distract enough to finally start doing at least something.
But I'm going to try, because what can we do but try?

I've been aching for a video like this, very cool

Previously, I'd written off delving into the mechanics of the Pale as missing the forest for the trees, yet you've imbued me with an appreciation for the deeper dive and its overall significance for the message of the game. That, and this video contains the best analysis of the Moralintern's nature and the nature of Dolores Dei of herself by shedding light on the mirroring of Harry's personal failings and feelings; of fear of love lost, misplaced in people you'd thought to be something they weren't.

Amazing video, really thorough and thoughtful. Finally someone from Eastern Europe expressed something that i found lacking in every other video about DE (usually made by Americans lol). Especially about Evrart, I feel like a lot of people mischaracterize him.
There were a lot of things you brought up that made me go huh never thought about it like that, despite beating the game 6 times. Good job!

To my mind, being from East Europe adds to the experience of the game: the region suffered from all sorts of regimes and ideologies the consiquences of which people still observe today. Disco Elysium, a game from Estonian developers, perfectry resembles such reflections about how people fought over opinions in the past and how it metters nowadays.

If Renee had just resolved to tell Gaston that he loved him they could have had a nice policule going on for their entire lifes. His suffering was not meaningless, but the meaning is simply to get over yourself and love the people you love openly

This is a beautiful essay - there is so much in here that I had no idea about, or missed out on during my playthroughs. Thank you so much for your work on this - it is as magnificent as the game it analyses.

As somebody who might be about to write his Bachelor's Thesis about this game this was fascinating as it showed me narrative options I haven't seen discussed anywere yet.

This is the Disco Elysium essay I've been looking for for a while, thank you.
DE is such a specifically post-soviet game and most Americans (usually through no fault of their own) have never even been to a post-soviet country, much less lived it. It's nice to have such a well thought out, eastern-european perspective out there now.

I can't believe that the ending of the game is Harry getting stick bugged.
