So, if they have different advantages why can't you JUST use both?

We need on port type that does all connections from file transfer,PC to PC to phone , to video , chained multiple video. Link , a plug play setup driver that works out what's being connected , ability to have expansion ports tucked under desk

I just tested both Display Ports and HDMI. Display Ports colors are spot on. My monitor is rated for 144hz. There is a undeniable blue tinted when using HDMI

i have a very old gtx 590, when I upgraded my mobo and cpu to B550 and 5600x, for some reason my pc wont boot using the hdmi cable, then i plugged in the DP and it started working again.

DP was a way to sell smallish, overpriced monitors. They pushed DP development so it was more favorable spec wise, but there were, once again, too many versions (just like HDMI) that seriously compromised compatibility.
HDMI caught up and passed DP, so I hope they dump it and people embrace larger TVs for their gaming ...
.
Just dont fuck up and buy an OLED... they have vicious burn-in

@Techquickie is it pointless using PC DisplayPort to HDMI adapter on smart TV which has no DisplayPort receiver?

For color critical work such as photo editing display port is better. HDMI truncates the RGB signal.
